" rel="nofollow - Hello

I try to frankestein myself a server desktop. :)

I have a Ep2c602-4l/d16 motherboard with e5-2680.
I have installed win 10 witch is unsopprted, i know, but works.
However i can not get hyperthreadin to work. It is enabled in bios but just not working. There are several installs like this i have seen witch does nbot have the same problem.

The description of hyperthreading in the bios leads me to think that it maybe works as whilisting for supported motherboards? If so, how would i bypass that? Thank you for your time :)

" rel="nofollow - Hyperthreading is supported on this MB. its BIOS, and all(most?) OS's.

IIRC, being AMD myself, isn't it the INF Installer that accounts for hyperthreading?

Have you installed or at least tried updating the INF installer?

" rel="nofollow - Hyperthreading shouldn't need any drivers. The OS just detects the threads as logical cores.

That Xeon is an 8 core 16 thread CPU, how many threads (shows as cores) do you see in windows resource monitor under CPU?

Additionally, that is a dual socket board is it not? Does that mean you have populated both slots with e5-2680s? If memory serves, much like with RAM, you want your CPUs to be as close in batch number as possible for optimal stability. That means you want them to be the same revision and stepping at the very least.

If you are not seeing your full thread count in windows I would do a full CMOS clear (battery removal method) and fire it up again with defaults. I am pretty sure hyperthreading should be enabled by default.
