Anyone try this processor model on any Asrock mobo? Because this processor is not listed in their compatibility list, yet all other V3 Xeons are. I don't get it.....Confused

The reason is the E5-2676 v3 is a "Custom' processor that went to Amazon as per Amazon's specs. As such it is not meant to be publicly available.

$400 for a 12C/24T E5-2676 v3 on eBay is a deal. Maybe.............

The tough part is going to be to find a BIOS on a retail/consumer/enthusiast motherboard that supports it.

" rel="nofollow - Oracle ordered some 11C/22T Xeons. That's the weirdest one I'm aware. 11-Core?? WTF

Too, and I don't quite fully understand just how, this E5-2676 v3 is said not to suffer the AVX slowdown.

Yea. I got bit by this years ago. Custom CPU's that aren't fully supported unless you can get someone to roll a BIOS to support it. Fully support that is.

Now, triple channel might be a stretch considering AWS also obviously had a custom MB to match it. I don't think, now knowing triple channel, that they way the mem to cpu traces on a consumer MB are, will work with JUST a bios. I might be wrong there ........... I don't think I am sadly.
