" rel="nofollow - Hello all, I have installed Windows 10 on my new PC but when I start the LAN drivers setup Windows freezes after about 10 seconds. It does the same thing if I try to install the Logitech software for G stuff! About the LAN card, I tried to unplug the cable and install the drivers..but still freeze! I tried to disable 1 of the 2 PCIE of LAN card, or both of them too, but Windows freezes anyway. I tried to unplug all USB devices connected (except the mouse) but nothing! Other drivers install normally, but Logitech software and LAN drivers don't. I found on internet some guide about these freeze problems and I did disk check and memory check. It's all ok on my system. I changed the power saving settings to Max performace too.
The bad thing is that it doesn't go in the blue screen, so it doesn't give me the dump file for check what's the matter.
Can someone help me with this? I really don't know what to do to solve this problem. Thanks in advance!

" rel="nofollow - Have you installed the, INF, IME and USB 3.0 driver first?
Do they both get enumerated/displayed in Device Manager?
When you plug a cable into either/both NICs at the rear, do they light up?

1. I have installed drivers in this sequence: INF, IME and LAN. USB 3.0 drivers are not available on Asrock Z170 i7 page under the Win10 x64 section, but only in the Win7 one. Do you think that this could be the problem with Logitech drivers? If yes, where can I download the USB 3.0 drivers for Win10?
2. Yes, Windows recognize both LAN devices and displays them under LAN cards in Device Manager.
3. Yes, both light up when I connect the Ethernet cable and I have access to the LAN and internet.
Before Windows 10 I had Win7 and it was all ok with both LAN and Logitech drivers.
Thanks.

http://www.asrock.com/feature/appshop/dl.asp
That will always d/l the newest version of the ASRock APP Shop.
Install it and then click on the "BIOS and Drivers" tab to see what it discovers is missing.
On a side note, unless your KB/Mouse IS specifically USB 3.0, those two belong in USB 2.0 ports.
If both NICs are working, what drivers are you having issue with? Windows 10 has a boat load of drivers "in-the-box' now so most drivers don't really need installed by the User.

Starting with Windows 10, and the Intel 100 series chipset boards like your Z170, two new things about USB drivers:
The Intel 100 series chipset boards ONLY use a USB 3.0 driver for ALL of the USB ports, including USB 2.0. This is a problem ONLY when using Windows 7, since it does not have a built in USB 3.0 driver.
Intel does not provide a USB 3.0 driver for installation with Windows 10. The Win 10 "inbox" USB 3.0 driver is used. Depending upon the USB 3.0 hardware in your board, you will find drivers such as USBHUB3.SYS, or USBXHCI.SYS being used in the Device Manager entries. You also won't find an Intel USB 3.0 driver for Windows 8.1 anymore, at least Intel doesn't have one available on their website. anymore.
Have you checked for a Win 10 specific driver for your Logitech keyboard and mouse?
Are you using the Fatal1ty USB port for the mouse? That port has its own software for configuring the port, which you can only get by using the APP Shop tool, available on your board's download page. Also, this port might not work well with every mouse.
I've never had any problems installing the Intel networking drivers on my ASRock Z170 board, or any mother board. One thing you should do during this driver installation, is on the Setup Options screen. You'll see four features listed, three are checked by default. Find the Advanced Network Services entry, and uncheck it. You only want Device Drivers and PROSet.
Win 10 has problems with the ANS features, which might be causing the freezing.

I've downloaded and installed the App shop and this is the situation when I go inside the "BIOS and Drivers" tab. Nothing about the USB 3.0 drivers.
On a side note, unless your KB/Mouse IS specifically USB 3.0, those two belong in USB 2.0 ports. |
At the moment, I'm using the mouse and keyboard on the USB ports arranged for them, but I've tried to change them too without any positive results.

I'm having issues with the official Asrock LAN driver (that I've downloaded from Asrock site). Anyway I'm using my PC with the Win10 drivers now and network works without problems at the moment.
For parsec:
Have you checked for a Win 10 specific driver for your Logitech keyboard and mouse?! |
Yes, I'm sure that I downloaded the specific driver for Windows 10 x64 (I just re-downloaded it and freeze again the system).
Are you using the Fatal1ty USB port for the mouse? That port has its own
software for configuring the port, which you can only get by using the

The mouse was on the port you were talking about and I've changed it for the new driver install try I was talking above, sadly with the same result.
I've never had any problems installing the Intel networking drivers on my http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html%3c_nkw=asrock+z170" rel="nofollow - ASRock Z170
board, or any mother board. One thing you should do during this driver

When installing that driver, I tried different types of installation. I tried to check ONLY the driver installation too but it freezes anyway. By the way, I will try re-install the driver as you told me and I'll tell you soon.
Is possible that there is something to set inside the BIOS that can make this freeze happen? BIOS settings are to default.
Thanks again to all!

Guys I've solved it! The problem was the CD-Rom device. I'v unplugged it and everything came back ok (both LAN and Logitech drivers).
Thanks again for your support!

That's great to read.
Side note: Seems to be a CD/DVD drive causing a lot of issues here lately.

I would bet that the optical drive was connected to an ASMedia SATA port. That's what the other user with similar issues had done.
Now I wonder if the SSD Windows drive is also connected to an ASMedia SATA port?
redline89, you should check if your SSD is connected to an Intel SATA port, it will perform better. Installing Windows when connected to the ASMedia SATA chipset can be difficult, you probably used an Intel SATA port.
Otherwise, installing a keyboard and network chip driver fails because an optical drive is connected to an ASMedia SATA port. Explain that one...

I will check when I'll be back home later! When I connected the DVD drive I didn't pay attention to Asmedia and Intel SATA ports, and probably this was the problem. I'll let you know soon.

So, ALL SATA drives were connected on ASMedia ports... Now I've changed them all to Intel ports and...It works perfectly! Here 2 photos about the setup.

It seems there are problems between Windows 10 and ASMedia ports with my old DVD-Rom (I bought it 4 years ago).
