" rel="nofollow - I have had problems with the bios wanting to update to p2.50 over and over again even though it is already running it. Also, my gpu had been slow after a BSOD. I RMAd it and they found nothing wrong. It is a GTX 1080. It was struggling to play at 1080p. I tested my psu output and that's fine. Obviously this brings me to the mobo. I am on a fresh reinstall of windows, CMOs cleared. Whats next? The 'auxiliary' temp is up around 40C under just basic load(me posting here). The aux temp is higher than all other components right now.

" rel="nofollow - How do you update the BIOS, APP Shop?
If so, use Instant Flash from within the BIOS under Tools tab.
Also, if you're not already, plug in a 4-pin molex from the PSU to the connection just above and to the right of the upper most PCIe x1 slot. That is for providing additional/supplemental power to the PCIe bus.
Reply back please.

| I use the internet flash inside the bios. That 4 pin connection is already in place.

" rel="nofollow - Yea. Do the Instant Flash from within the BIOS and post back. DO NOT clear the BIOS immediately after flashing. Instead, make a change to the.... say, LPT or whatever, Save and Exit. Then, THEN, upon a reboot use the "Reset to UEFI Default" and go back in and make the changes you need to.
Clearing the BIOS immediately after flashing and you stand a good chance of hosing it. Not good.
Post back please after using Instant Flash. We'll discuss the sound card issue after that, ok?

Folder?
You need to unzip the actual Instant Flash file, Z97Ex42.50, only, onto the root of a FAT32 formatted thumb drive.

And insert the thumb drive into a USB 2.0 port located at the rear I/O panel of the motherboard.

Don't worry. Many here do.
So it's running now w/o throwing that "Update Me' issue ?

FYI, use Instant Flash in the future. Not saying Internet Flash is at fault for this but Instant Flash is much much more safer to perform.

| Whatever the default is. I'm more worried about figuring out if my mobo is messed up because my gpu has been abnormally slow. I've eliminated all other parts. I don't know how to eliminate the mobo

Is this even after a fresh OS install, and with the latest graphics driver installed?
That it was a BSOD may indicate an issue within Windows.
What Make and Model is your PSU and how old is it?

| Yeah fresh everything. I litteraly started from scratch. It was a generic watchdog hardware error. I researched it and it's normaly associated with overclocking. Problem is I wasn't overclocking.
EVGA 850w gold fully modular. I don't remember the model percicely. Only 2.1 years old. I micrometered everything and nothing is off output wise.

That "device' probably isn't your sound card. What specific ASUS card is it anyways?
More than likely it either the MBs two ASMedia SATA-III ports or the MBs two ASMedia USB 3.0 ports waiting on a driver installation from you.

That's the pci slot its in. I am looking at the little map/picture in the bios. its the top pci slot. Not the x16 but the smaller one.

I'll be damned. It has an ASMedia ASM1083 PCIe Bridge Chip on it.
What driver(s) are you using the BETA ones or the non-BETA drivers ASUS has posted? https://www.asus.com/us/Sound-Cards/Xonar_DGX/HelpDesk_Download/

Or maybe more to the point, other than in the BIOS as is, in Device Manager does it show up properly, and, does it perform as expected?

| Ive tried 3 different drivers 2 betas and the most recent non beta release. the 3.5 rear mic input does not work on the card OR the Mobo. It doesn't like 3.5 mm rear mics. However, the front mic does work and I have it bridged with the sound card. Neither rear port detects the mic. USB mics work as well. I promise its not the mic or windows. I have had a thread open on Microsofts forums for a few months now. Now that I am having issues with other mobo related stuff I am wondering if the chipset is failing.

I don't need say this yet RMA it if you feel the MB is faulty. Heck yea.
Though, from here mind you I don't feel it's the MB. I find it odd that ASUS first began production using the PLX PEX8112 bridge chip and then in later production somewhere down the line switched to a surely less expensive ASMedia ASM1083 bridge chip.

Key words, used to
Can I suggest, with the mic issues you've so far described here, that you get it tested. Take it to a computer store and ask to check compatibility or something. Or a tech/repair shop to have it tested. Friends?
Yet "used to' is not reassuring.
