Hello, I make my new build with 6700K, gtx1070 and I want the Asrock
z170 extreme 6 (I hesitated with Gigabyte z170x Ultra gaming but I don't
like LEDs on MB even if I can disable them and audio is apparently
better on Asrock)
I read a lot about "not very good" ram compatibility with the z170
motherboards in general. And now for the Asrock I hesitate on 2 RAMs, I
can only buy one of these two and I'm afraid they're not fully
compatibles with the Asrock. I checked QVL and they are not on the list
but where I live all ram I can buy aren't on the QVL.. I know the QVL
is maybe outdated and not complete and this is why I make this subjet,
if you can help me and tell me if you think they're compatible or not
with my motherboard.
Here the QVL Asrock http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20Extreme6/%3ccat=Memory" rel="nofollow - ASRock > Z170 Extreme6
The first ram, I want to buy these for now :
"F4-2800C15D-16GVRB" G.skill ripjaws 2800Mhz CAS 15 2x8gb http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2800c15d-16gvrb" rel="nofollow - http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2800c15d-16gvrb
You can see on their QVL they're compatible with almost all Z170
motherboards but nothing about any Asrock z170, but why is that they
will not be compatible ? Maybe they are but not tested ?
The other ram is :
"CMK16GX4M2A2400C14" Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400Mhz CAS 14 2x8gb http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-lpx-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-dram-2400mhz-c14-memory-kit-black-cmk16gx4m2a2400c14" rel="nofollow - Vengeance(R) LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C14 Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2A2400C14)
Here again, not on the QVL but they're almost the same as other one on the QVL.
So do you think I can buy the G.skill without problem ? If not, can I buy the Corsair ? Thanks for your time.

" rel="nofollow - Here. This will be tremendous help.
All the memory that G.Skill themselves have tested on the Z170 Extreme6 and guarantees to be compatible. If you have a problem using any of the kits displayed in the link below they, G.Skill, will make it right with you. Excellent people to deal with.

To answer this question.
No, not that particular kit, F4-2800C15D-16GVRB.
The B indicates a second iteration of the original F4-2800C15D-16GVR kit. A change in ICs I would imagine, that G.Skill has determined not to be stable on your MB.

" rel="nofollow - It's strange that G.SKILL Ripjaws V model is not included for use with any ASRock Z170 boards. The memory controller is part of the CPU, and we find many other Z170 mother boards compatible with that model.
If we check this page, G.SKILL's RAM Configurator includes several Ripjaws V models (sorry for the text link, some URLs don't work with the forum editor link tool):

The G.SKILL DDR4 TridentZ models work will with ASRock Z170 boards, that's what I use in mine.

Thanks for your answers, yes it's strange, it's the same for "F4-2800C15D-16GVR" no Asorck z170. So I think I need to search other ram.

If you ever wanted to see how high of an OC the system can post just pull 2 and run dual channel with 8GB(2x4GB). It's much easier to OC with 8 vs 16.
The below manufacturers memory look up tools are the ones I use and recommend.
