Hi I have a PC with a Asrock 960GM/U3S3 FX motherboard. I want to install Windows 10 on it, but all the drivers are for Windows 7 and Windows 8. Will Windows 7 or 8 drivers work for Windows 10 or will I need to wait for new drivers to be released for this motherboard? Are there any plans to make new drivers for this motherboard?

You can find the drivers here:

Thanks for your time.

I have used Windows 8/8.1 drivers with Windows 10 TP, but that was on Intel processor mother boards.

Windows 10 installed fine and booted up before I installed any specific drivers, but I don't have direct experience with AMD boards and Win 10. Windows always has generic drivers and includes some drivers from AMD, Intel, and for chips made by other manufactures. I've seen the AMD drivers in Windows 10 myself, so I know they are there.

Any drivers for AMD, Intel, etc, that ALL mother board manufactures provide for their mother boards come from AMD, Intel, etc. Mother board manufactures do not write their own drivers.

I don't see any Windows 10 drivers listed yet for any AMD boards on ASRock's download pages for their AMD boards. ASRock just recently began including some Intel Windows 10 drivers for some of their Intel based boards, which are provided by Intel.

We will need to wait for AMD to provide any Windows 10 drivers for their various chipsets, like your 970. But Windows has always provided generic drivers so there is a good chance that they will work. AMD could still proved Windows 10 drivers, as I said Intel just began providing some this week.

If you want to take a risk over not waiting for win 10 drivers to be posted go to AMD website,  they have some win 10 drivers listed for IGPU and their GPU's, some AHCI and RAID drivers.  Realtek has some for your lan.

We try and tell people to use what you are shown for the best stability, but I have the newest of every driver there is, except for my RST driver and EFI Sata UEFI driver, as the newest aren't the fastest.

If the company went around posting beta drivers or the newest without checking, there would be people crying.

If you want drivers for a OS that hasn't been released to RTM, you'll need to wait, and there's no exact date when AMD will have win 10 drivers, but I doubt it would be long after it's released.

Just like Parsec said, ASrock doesn't make drivers, they use what the hardware MFG send them for use. and also talked about generic drivers which people are all ready complaining about with windows and win update.  Most people want to use MFG drivers.

Still no Win 10 drivers for this board. Does anyone know if AMD is even working on this?

I got linked to these on the AMD forums:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%2010%20-%2064" rel="nofollow - http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%2010%20-%2064

Are these the correct chipset drivers for my board?

Those drivers should be correct. The description includes AMD SB7xx RAID Drivers and your board has the AMD 760G and SB710 chipset, so the other drivers in that package should work.

AMD is using a multiple chipset installation program which is common now, rather than separate installation programs.
