With much time and effort I managed to get Windows 7 Pro, 64 Bit installed on my new Z170 Pro4.  I've got all the drivers except for the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller.  I can find a driver on the supplied CD and the most up to date on the website, but each time when I load it, the USB mouse and keyboard quit working and I have to start over.  I have gone into the bios and set the PS/2 Emulator to enabled.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

CR

Just FYI in case you don't know, any of the Intel 100 series chipsets like your Z170, will only use a USB 3.0 driver on ALL of the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports.

Windows 7 does not have a USB 3.0 driver included among its files. Which is why an unmodified (USB 3.0 driver added to the installation files) Windows 7 installation media will cause none of the USB ports to work during the installation.

We have never had anyone post anything about a problem with the USB 3.0 driver provided by ASRock for Windows 7 and Z170 boards. So I'm curious about what model mouse and keyboard you are using.

What's strange is that the version of the USB 3.0 driver in the link you provided, is version 4.0.6.60, from 7/2016, while the ASRock version is 5.0.0.32 from 8/2016, a newer version. But if the other version works for you, that's great.

I must say that at Intel's website, the 5.0.0.32 USB 3.0 driver is for use with the Intel NUC PCs, and there is no Read Me file, so who knows what happened there. Confused
