Dear Murdock9, Greetings, this is ASRock TSD. According to debug code b7, it may be related to memory. Please re-install the CPU and memory then clear CMOS. If the problem still exists, please install only one memory module or using other memory modules. Besides, please follow below steps to update BIOS from the fail ROM for verifying: 1. Please enter to BIOS setup > Tool page > Secure Backup UEFI to backup the ROM data into the fail to boot up ROM. 2. " rel="nofollow - Hello! I just got the same issue (stupid me, didn't check the Internet before flashing BIOS to latest version to see any issues!). I am positive the Dr. Debug error is b2, NOT b7, and this one is not listed anywhere. Fans are working, I see disks are being accessed, but there is no picture over i7-6700K's internal graphics. I don't have a separate graphics card atall! My questions: 1. What does this error mean? 2. Since I cannot even see anything to enter BIOS, how am I supposed to roll back to previous version? 3. Tried reinstalling RAM, did not help. Please help, and FAST! I need to continue my work. By the way, if somebody wants to upgrade the CPU to i7-7700K, we NEED this BIOS version for it to work - staying on P3.20 is not an option. So the issue with no graphics over internal GPU needs to be fixed by AsRock, really - that alone is true, right? EDIT: OK, I found a switch to select the backup BIOS, I see things now. Proceeding to revert to P3.20 (mobo came with P2.40). But this is an obvious bug in P7.20 that NEEDS FIXING! |

True? Meh, not necessarily. That could be THE reason the 7700K isn't fully supported till P7.00 and above. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20Extreme4/?cat=CPU b2 is "LGCY OPTION ROM INIT", which doesn't really narrow it down. But .... memory doesn't need nor have an Option ROM. GPU's and iGPU's do.

Yeah... P7.00 or P7.20 are needed if one wants to upgrade to 7700K (which I am contemplating to do at some point). So, UEFI needs flashing before installing that CPU. So if we get no picture after flashing, it's a problem, isn't it? I wonder if the same thing would happen even with a dedicated GPU... At any rate, I'm back to P3.40 now. Phew. |
