" rel="nofollow - need some advice:
-In having a Raid 1 (two 4tb drives), is the x99 (Taichi) Raid for BOOT only? -I want to have a D: drive as mirrored. I can do that in Windows. But I want Hardware raid. I am on SATA 3_0_0 and 3_0_1 ports with both drives. But nowhere in the bios does intel Raid management come up. I've googled and gone into Advanced settings but ... I can set the SATA devices to RAID but no Intel Raid/storage option shows on reboot.
Can I suppose that RAID is only in that: -first use, you need to have usb key and put RAID drivers on it to install OS ???
Or do I get a PCI card that is RAID card (0,1,0+1, 5, 6, 10...)? Any recommendation on RAID card?
(BTW...my mirror always is resynching state... I mean... I ran WD utility and found no issue, no SMART issue. I don't power off improperly...its on a UPS...)

" rel="nofollow - Thanks but I know this. THAT is the issue: I have no listing in BIOS for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology under Advanced in the BIOS. Its like its not there. I have two identical 4TB HDDs on SATA ports that are covered under the RAID (3_0 ~3_5) Matter of fact, there is no Boot -> CSM option either in the UEFI Bios...
So I ask, is this because I already have a system (win 10) on a PCIe Boot drive? I want to have a separate data set (D:/) as two mirrored drives but use Hardware (Southbridge) for Raid 1 control.
Otherwise I will use Storage Sets (containers) in Win 10.
Trust me, I am used to Dell RAIDs where you just Ctrl-I in boot and get to Raid Utility.
