Since the support form doesn't seem to work for me i'll have to try here.

Ive had my i7 2600k running with a Multiplier of x40 without much hassle.. then I've got the
ASRock Z77 Pro4 and now the Multiplier that I set in the UEFI Bios isn't being applied it seems.

If I change it its actually even saying so, the number displays. However the actual speed doesn't change. It remains x34 @3400GHz.

Any idea whats going on?

Are you saying setting the core multiplier (All Cores set to 40? Or are you using Per Core?) to 40 in the UEFI/BIOS, but the CPU speed in Windows never goes to 4,000MHz?

What are you using to check the CPU speed in Windows? What version of Windows? If it is Task Manager, the Performance tab, don't use that, it never reads the CPU speed correctly, and is wrong about CPU Utilization.

EDIT: The Main screen of the UEFI/BIOS normally just shows the stock specs of a processor, not the speed of any OC.

Im Using CPU-Z to check the frequency, multiplier etc. The OS is Windows 10. However the OS isnt the issue - the multiplier is. I guess. Linux doesnt see anything different either and thats the point...
It looks to me like the multiplier doesnt do anything ...

I have the Setting on All Cores and set to 40
I have tried lots of other values too, to no avail.

Really .. what the hell is wrong with the Bios?

We don't know if anything is wrong with the BIOS. Do you find many or any Z77 Pro4 owners with threads about your issue in this forum?

You installed Windows 10, great, but what drivers did you install?

Did you install the INF driver ver:10.1.1.8 software (always the first thing that must be installed), and then the Intel Management Engine driver ver:11.0.0.1156 (which provides communication between the BIOS and the OS), from your board's Win 10 download page:

Since you can OC with AXTU fine, but not from the BIOS, it seems like you don't have the two items above installed.

Its not working in Linux either ... all this has been working before. I doubt its the OS really..

In any case: I have all drivers installed

Further: The Bios doesnt show the upscaled Frequency..: no matter if I lower or higher it - its never really changing anything but the display value in the OC screen.

Even more: Yes I did read about multiplier issues .. ppl were thinking about a bad bios chip or flashing gone wrong .. replacing the bios chip did some times fix the issue, some times not. Even flashing a new bios would work for a person .. for a time. Then it would suddenly not work anymore.

One thing comes immediately to mind.

Replace your CMOS battery. For a Z77 board it's about due for a new one.

Hello - i have similar issue. I change clock from BIOS, but on Windows nothing change. I'll try replace battery, clear cmos and restore default - nothing works. But one way work - i re-install bios :) Simple overriting existing bios 1.80 to 1.80 and boom - BIOS restore to default and when i change multipier - Windows see changes. Maybe this help for you :)
