with regards to the Asrock 4coredual-sata2 r2.0 mobo, I was looking at the CPU list.
the CPU list has QX6800 listed. Is QX6850 part of that series and prolly work on this mobo?

There is a basic reason why the QX6850 processor is not listed in the CPU Support List. This is from the specifications page for your board:
Supports FSB1066/800/533MHz processors and H-T Technology
The QX6850 processor has an FSB specification of 1333MHz.

If you check the CPU Support List for your board, you will not find any processor that use a 1333MHz FSB. There are other Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors that use an FSB of 1333MHz, and they are not listed in the CPU Support List.
If you know that you can OC your FSB speed to 1333MHz, then your CPU might work. Otherwise given the CPU support list, it does not look like your board will support the QX6850.
