I have bought the Taichi x99 motherboard, and I am very pleased with it. I have installed the following:

M2_1: a Samsung 960 Evo M2 drive (1TB PCIe Gen 3x4).

SATA3_0: DVD RW drive

SATE3_1: a Samsung SSD 850 EVO drive (250 Gb SATA 6)

SATA3_3: a Toshiba HDD (4TB SATA6)

SATA3_4: a Toshiba HDD (4TB SATA6)

The 250GB SSD is my win10PRO system disk. And I will use my M2 drive for SQL.

The 2 toshiba drives I would like to have them in a RAID 1 configuration. But I have a problem to set that up. When I changed in UEFI the sata mode to RAID, then win10 doesn't want to start anymore. I prefer to have my SSD drive without RAID configuration so I can replace the motherboard if it gets broken.

Most of the manuals are about installing win10 also in RAID and for that installing the extra intel driver, but that's not my goal. Only the 2 HDD in RAID 1 mode. Is that possible?

Thank you for contacting ASRock.

Regarding your question, please follow the steps to setup RAID.

1. Connect the Samsung SSD 850 to S_SATA3_0-3 ports.

2. Connect the Toshiba HDD to SATA3_0-5 ports.

3. Enter BIOS, Advanced, Storage Configuration, SATA3 Storage Configuration, set SATA Mode to RAID, set Launch Storage OpROM Policy to UEFI only.

4. Press F10 to save configuration and enter BIOS again.

5. Enter BIOS, Advanced, Intel Rapid Storage Technology to create RAID Volume.

6. After all, press F10 to save configuration and your system is ready for use.

Note: Please make sure you have installed the Intel RST driver.
