" rel="nofollow - Hi guys, I'm using a Z170 OC Formula MOBO, and I have installed Windows 10 on it in GPT and converted my SSD to that format, I'm also using the Ultra Fast Boot option without any problems. However, after about 2 boots, my BIOS automatically reverts to the Fast Boot option. I have to basically every time revert it back manually. I was told that maybe it was because the CSM option was turned on in the BIOS menu, but when I went to check it, the option isn't there at all. Do I need to update anything on my BIOS? What's weird is that in the manual that came with the board stated that there was a CSM option, but in mine there's no option at all for CSM. Thanks in advance :) |

For ASRock Z170 boards, the CSM option is in the Boot screen, the last option at the bottom of the screen. But, when you set Fast Boot to Ultra Fast, the CSM option is automatically removed from the Boot screen. I assume that is to prevent any changes to CSM, since it should be disabled when Fast Boot is set to Ultra Fast. Actually, CSM must be set to Disabled in order to use the Ultra Fast setting, according to the description in the UEFI on other ASRock boards. CSM is enabled (on) by default. Are you sure that once you set Fast Boot to Ultra Fast, and save and exit the UEFI, that it actually stayed set to Ultra Fast right after you set it that way? Are you checking that setting every time you boot the PC? You'll need to set Fast Boot to disabled, then save and exit the UEFI, and go back in again and check the Boot screen to look for the CSM option. It should be there after doing that. If you installed Windows in UEFI booting mode, and you have a newer video card or are using the Intel integrated graphics, you can set CSM to disabled. If after doing that you get a black screen when you boot, your video source is not UEFI compatible. I have done everything you told but the problem persists D: When I set the Fast Boot to disabled the CSM option indeed appears. I have set it to disabled, changed the boot option back to Ultra Fast and the problem remains the same. I know it works in the Ultra Fast because when that option is selected my boot screen gets a different resolution, much clearer. However, after about 2 boots, it reverts back. Again, I know because the boot screen gets weird, like it gets all stretched. I belive my card is supported, it's a GTX 1080 TI. Again, thanks a lot for your time and for helping :) |
