Subject: About 3200mhz RAM on X370 Gaming K4
Date Posted: 24 Jun 2017 at 1:38pm
Hi, I'm new to system building and I just bought an Asrock X370 Gaming K4, every components of my system is already complete except for the RAM, my processor is a Ryzen 7 1700. Im planning to buy  the GSkill Trident Z RGB 16GB Dual DDR4 3200. But i saw this on the Gaming K4 specifications:

- AMD Ryzen series CPUs support DDR4 2933+(OC)2667/2400/2133 ECC & non-ECC, un-buffered memory*

my question is will the Trident Z RAm work on this motherboard but will only run on lower MHZ or it will not run at all? and my system won't boot? Sorry I'm just a newbie and need some guidance, Thank you.

PS: apologies if my english is bad, I'm an asian Sleepy

Hi,
in general you can say the TridentZ work very well with the Ryzen, they mostly use Samsung B-Die chips, which currently work best with Rzyen.
If you will be able to run it at 3200 on the K4 is not guaranteed, but it will boot and with the TridentZ you can expect sth. like 2933 or 3066 MHZ.
Can you tell the exact model number of the kit (or kits) you want to buy (eg. F4-3200C14D-GTZR) ?

You can also have a look at this list of memory with details about the memory chips used:

hi, thanks for the reply. This is the number of the RAM I'm planning to buy (F4-3000C16D-16GTZR) it was actually 3000mhz, i thought it was 3200, actually i don't mind if i will not get the full 3000mhz of speed, they said it was not noticeable at all? I just want to be sure if my system will run with the said RAM, I was excited for the RGB Lol

The kit you posted has Hynix Chips and i tried to find some comfirmed information on how well these work.
It seems they work, usually with speed of ~2666, but i have not been able to test any Rams with Hynix chips myself so i can not really recommend it without being sure.
So maybe someone who uses can say more about them.
