" rel="nofollow - My Z87 Extreme4 doesn't show any DrDebug LED and doesn't POST.
I've tried:
  • clearing CMOS using the guide in this forum (removed CMOS battery for 4 hours)
  • tried different RAM slots with working RAM (the RAM is what I'm using right now on a spare CPU/motherboard)
  • tried another PSU
  • reseated the CPU
  • tried the backup BIOS
but none of these make my motherboard work.
The CPU/GPU fans spin so I assume the CPU is fine.

So is my motherboard officially dead?

This is a new board, and a new build? First time you've used this board?

What model CPU are you using? Many compatible processors require a specific UEFI/BIOS version, or they will not work at all.

What UEFI/BIOS version is currently in the board?

The CPU and GPU fans spinning are not at all related to the CPU working or not.

Do you have both the 24 pin ATX and 4/8 pin CPU power cable connected to the board? The CPU will not work unless the 4/8 pin CPU power cable is connected.

I would verify that the PSU is working correctly, and that both power cables to the board are fully seated.

No it's not a new motherboard. Recently it just stopped working so I've been trying all sorts of things to fix it.

I'm using a 4770k.

It's on the latest BIOS. 3.40.

Yes, the 4+4 power connector and the 20+4 power connector are plugged in.

Dear Integral,

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

Regarding your case, we provide some suggestions to try:

1.      Clear CMOS to load BIOS default.

Please check user manual p23 to clear CMOS.

2.      Please check power supply is plug properly and power supply switch is on.

3.      Only install CPU and one stick memory to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.

4.      Please try to install one stick memory at A1, B1, A2 and B2 slot to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.

5.      Reinstall CPU and check if CPU socket pin is fine.

6.      If it is possible, please change another CPU or DRAM to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.

Thank you!

Yours truly,

ASRock TSD

I got my motherboard/CPU checked at a local computer store and it turns out the motherboard is 100% dead. I'm looking at getting another motherboard off eBay so hopefully that'll work.
Thanks for all the help so far. :)

That sux.

Instead, why not step up to the Z97 boards?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007627%2050001944%208000&IsNodeId=1&srchInDesc=z97&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&order=BESTMATCH&page=1

They're decently priced and available. Plus the 3yr Warranty on a new board.
