I have a problem with Windows 10 support, I have to return new Samsung 950 Pro SSD due to unknown incompatibility between Microsoft (Windows 10 Pro x64), ASRock (FM2-A88-ITX+), and Samsung (950 Pro SSD). I used ASUS Hyper m.2 x4 m.2 to PCI-E adapter, connecting it to PCI-E 3.0 x16 bus on the motherboard. Samsung Migration Tool was installed on the PC, the software migrated to the new SSD (recognized by the BIOS) without any problems. It was impossible to boot directly from Samsung NVM 950 Pro SSD though, but possible to boot using Microsoft Boot Manager, which appeared in the BIOS boot menu somehow. After any MS Windows update Samsung 950 Pro SSD stopped booting.
I used a lot of settings (default), dropped my memory clock to DDR3-1600 (it is DDR3-2400), nothing helps. Everything works fine with a standard SATA3 SSD. It seems I have to replace this motherboard with m.2 slot supporting one.

Microsoft Boot Manager is exactly what you'll see and use if installed correctly.

Remember, what with the "drive' now residing on a card slotted in a PCIe slot things will appear differently.

Do you have informations about support for FM1 Boards, especially A75M-ITX?

Last week i upgraded to Win10 and since then i have problems with mkv movies(streamed from NAS). It is stuttering. I´m not sure if it comes from network, chipset or APU(A6-3500). i just want to rule out, that it comes from not well working drivers.....

To rule out the NAS and it's connection, move an mkv to the system HDD and attempt to stream it from there.

Streaming from a NAS includes some network overhead/latency that is most likely the issue, so try the above.

Hey, i tested today to copy the mkv directly on system but the result is the same....it´s still stuttering

Any other idea?

Some info on the "error 651" , where did you see that?

Your ISP now is? And you connect how?

Has the new ISP been contacted and provisioned the modem yet?

Tons of questions here.

That you put a NIC in/on the MB and it did the same thing, a BIOS update will not solve this.

Let's review your information.

You changed to a different ISP, and you could no longer connect to the Internet.

But wait, now at the end of your post we see, It did work for about two months.

So what is true? It worked for a while, and then stopped?

If that is true, does any other PC connect to the router or whatever you are using with your ISP? Would be nice to know what you use for your Internet connection. How do you know if your router is working correctly?

I have a hunch it is Steam, not Windows, that is generating this msg.

What game?

How much vram does your 960 have?

Have you disable the Windows Paging File?

That should not be happening with 8gb of RAM. I have this issue on my old laptop with 2gb of RAM but that is understandable. On my old laptop I set the page file larger and that removes the error, here is how to do it.

Search "This PC"
Right click on it and select properties
Click advanced system settings
Click settings under performance
Click advanced

Under "Virtual Memory" what does it say?

Click change
Uncheck "Automatically determine....."
Select your boot drive
Set minimum size to 2048
Set Maximum to 4096

Apply changes and restart.

This is not a proper solution for your problem however, generally with SSD based systems I disable the pagefile to prolong the life of my SSDs and 2 of my 3 systems run 8gb of RAM. Neither of those systems ever shows a low memory warning. Something you are using has a memory leak, likely not windows. What other apps/drivers etc do you have installed and what internet browser are you using?

I would hope that Microsoft tech support would have told the OP all of the things we have asked about.

If not, that is unbelievable. For all we know, they may have done all of these things already.

You need to find a free image hosting website, there are many out there. Just search on free image hosting, choose one, create an account, and upload your pictures. When you select a picture, on the website's page there should be links to the picture. You copy the text of the link by highlighting it, left click on it and select Copy.

You must use the forums Advanced Editor, which is opened by clicking the arrow on the top line of the Quick Reply editor shown at the bottom of a thread.

In the forum's Advanced Editor, at the top is an Insert Image icon, it looks like a tree in a square. Click on that, a box will appear, and you Paste the link text into the Image URL area. You can click Preview to see if the link works. No need to set any of the Width or Height options normally. Click OK when done.

The image should appear in your post like this, a sample from the Insert Image option:

I wonder is Steam does not like XFast LAN? Does not make sense but who knows.

Just FYI, I don't recall ever seeing someone having this problem in this forum, meaning it is not common.

Microsoft Reps may have told you it isn't needed but in looking at that pic I'm sure if you create a System Managed Paging File on one of those SSD's you'll fnd this error goes the way of the Gooney Bird.

Or heck, put a smallish rotational HDD in the system and create the needed paging file on it.

To quote from the OP's first post, "... I cannot run any game on my computer.". Might be an exaggeration, but who knows.

Also, the OP is playing the game via Steam, it is not installed on his PC.

You weren't told a page file was not needed with an SSD, but that it was not good to have it on an SSD. Both of those things are false.

Either create the page file, or buy more memory at this point. We don't have enough information about what's going on with your PC to tell you anything else.

I would still like to see what the memory usage is when that message appears. Start Task Manager (Ctrl Alt Del), More details, Performance tab, Memory. Also, the Processes tab will show what programs are using how much memory.

From that screen, you can click Open Resource Monitor (at the bottom of the screen), click the Memory tab there for more details on memory usage.

"Installed' indeed. For w/o loading the graphics and audio portions locally it would seem as slow as playing chess over the internet. Steams business model would evaporate like steam released into the atmosphere.

Xaltar can explain Steam better than I.

Date Posted: 24 Jan 2017 at 7:47pm
Steam has two options, local install (still need to log in to steam to play) or Stream from another PC on your local network. Streaming game content over the internet would be impractical as it would make their games libraries unavailable to about 90% of the world's population with slow internet (myself included).

I would also check the game's forums for other users experiencing the same issue. A badly cracked game can also do this, to be clear we do not endorse or condone piracy in any form on these forums. As I said in my last post, with 8gb of RAM I place the blame on the game itself rather than page file. Either the game does not like your drivers and is causing a memory leak or there is a coding error that effects your particular hardware configuration.

If this is happening with all your games then I would set up a page file and test with that as I explained before.

It may also be a good idea to check windows Resource Monitor and see how much RAM windows is detecting. If you are not using windows 64 bit then you will be restricted to about 3.5gb of RAM no matter how much you have installed. In this case the lack of a page file could very definitely cause the issue.

Windows 32, of any windows version is not for gaming, it is a legacy support feature MS keeps for backward compatibility with certain enterprise software that will not work correctly in 64 bit mode or in compatibility mode.

Here is an example of Resource Monitor showing 16gb of RAM installed and available.

ssd and page file arent related.  The page file, or swap file, is a overflow for physical ram that uses the hdd or ssd as its medium.  If you have a program trying to load 129gb of data into ram, and you only habe 128gb of ram.. you still need a swap file.  Type of hdd is not relevant.  I dont know where the idea of not needing a swap file  because you have a ssd originated, but it is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of what the swap file does...

I currently have the asrock b450 pro, and sometimes it boots to windows and other times it does not. All sata/data cables are connected to the hard drive along with power from the power supply and yet the hard drive does not show up in the bios. Looking for possible reasons why have enabled legacy csm mode and have tried continuously to set the boot priority but still nothing seems to be working. My friend and I have spent hours upon hours looking for a solution and nothing seems to be working really hope some people on this foam have some new ideas on how to fix this issue. Please help we are in a time sensitive.

Thank you, Kadafi

If W10 or W8.1 was not installed in UEFI mode then you will indeed need to start the OS installation over. Ensure that your two 2x2GB drives are not installed on SATA ports 5 and 6 as depending on where you have the m.2 SSD installed these ports will not be available. http://https://www.asussupportnumber.com/asus-customer-support/" rel="nofollow - Asus Support Number

The Windows 10 free upgrade through the Get Windows 10 (GWX) app. the media creation tool and Windows 10 installation media (ISO files) are available for customers to install Windows 10. Tengo una build compuesta por ASRock A320m-hdv Ryzen 2400g. La Bios es P5.50.
Reinstale window 10 y me da un error. No toma Sonido.
Gracias

Hi I'm trying to install windows 10 on a brand new system and once I get into the install process it can't see any of my hard drives. At first I thought it was just the nvme drive, so I connected a sata drive, but it wont see that either. I've tried playing with the CSM settings and trying to load the drivers from the included CD,but no luck. I know the drives work in other systems and even in this system using other OSes, but can't get windows install to see either. I'm using the AMD B450 Gaming K4 motherboard. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I just had Comcast install a Gigabit service to my home. I have 2 AsRock B450M Steel Legend builds.

I am unable to get more than 490Mbps (speedtest.xfinity.com 112Mbps on speedtest.net) on either board using multiple Cat6 cables (varies manufactures) even if it is the only device plug directly into the Gigabit Modem.

I have an HP Omen 15, Dell Latitude E7270, and a MacBook Air, that all, when wired, get the Gigabit Speeds 880-1280Mbps on both speedtest.xfinity.com and speedtest.net. Also have an iPhone 10Xs that gets into the 600-700Mbps on the wireless network. So, it being a configuration issue on Comcast's side is pretty unlikely at this point. But to confirm this I had Comcast do further diagnostics and everything seems to be running very well on their end.

In my testing ??

I have reset the Network through Windows 10 Settings and have only reconnected to the onboard LAN using DHCP straight to the Modem and then Static using different Cat6 cables. Same results.

I have upgraded the onboard Realtek Gigabit LAN drivers, first from AsRock, and then straight from Realtek. Same results.

Thinking it was a Service issue ??Though one machine is Windows 10 machine and the other is Windows Server 2016 (running only Hyper-V) ??I have attempted to boot into Safe Mode with Networking. Same results directly plugged into the modem using cables that tested at 1 Gig on the three laptops.

I have attempted to use different DNS servers, very little difference in any.

I have ran Ubuntu Live on the same PC and get 1.1Gbps downloads and the same 40-50Mbps upload speeds. (Suggests a Window's Issue)

I have installed an Ubuntu Desktop on the other machine as a VM and get 1.2Gbps on that. (Suggest a Window's OS Throttling issue) But I also have installed Windows 10 Pro on a VM and get the similar results as the Ubuntu.

Testing further through all my VMs, the Windows Server 2019 VMs have the same results as the host, limited speeds to 400-500Mbps.

The biggest difference I can tell in the host and VM?™s compared to the Window 10 Pro OS VM in testing the is that this version of windows is the 1809 while the rest have been updated to the 1903 base version, or whatever the Server Versions equivale to.

So, the issue is ether Windows settings or with the Windows Drivers and MOBO combination with the May Updates conflicts is my thinking. I might be way off on this thought process though.

Any help or suggestion are welcome. Brainstorming and troubleshooting this issue is starting to burn me out.

I am having a similar issue on a ASRock B450 Pro4.

I have an MSI X99A GODLIKE GAMING CARBON with gigabit network cards that can get 1.1 Gbps.

While on my B450 I get 250 Mbps.

Your VM comment made me think of a difference between the two. that being that I have VirtuaBox and VMware Workstation installed on the B450.

I'm wondering if the virtual network adapters have anything to do with it. I am going to uninstall VirtualBox first, test, then uninstall VMWare Workstation.

Both systems, MIS and ASRock, are running Windows 10 1903.

After typing that and re-reading your post I'm not sure they are the same problem. But if I find a resolution I'll try and post back here.

None of the un-installing helped. I dug into the network properties and found that my receive and transmit buffers maximums were low compared to my other device that is working with gigabit speeds.

Receive Buffers: 512 (Max)
Transmit Buffers 128 (Max)

I suspect it is primarily just that this is a lower quality NIC, and the advertised gigabit speeds do not have the technical capabilities to backup the marketing. Just a suspicion though.

Hi -

I have a PC with the A75M board and have been struggling to update it to Windows 10. I've progressed from trying the free upgrade, which failed for undefined reasons, purchased Win 10 on disk and tried to upgrade it that way, which failed, and finally tried to do a clean install by booting off the Win 10 disk and overwriting the C: drive. Fail, fail, fail.

So now I'm wondering: is it even possible to run Win 10 on the A75M or is it now a boat anchor (since Win7 support has ended)?

Thanks!
Chris

@cwheeldon:
If you want to do a "clean" OS installation onto a previously used HDD/SSD, you should delete all existing partitions and create a new target partition for the OS before you start with the installation. It was not a good idea trying to overwrite the previously used C: partition.
By the way: The fastest and safest way to get Win10 properly clean installed is to use an ISO file of the desired OS, to let the tool Rufus create a bootable USB Flash Drive and then to boot off this USB Flash drive. Once the OS Setup asks you where to install the OS, you can let the Setup do what I have written above.

My mobo is Fatalit1y B450i (mini ITX).

I need to use my USB to download Windows 10 (1909) iso file- USB must be in the FAT32 format.
But the iso file is 5gb... and FAT32 doesn't go over 4gb per file...

What can I do to just download the iso file...?

(thx to whoever that can tell me the answer haha)

OK I have a question about installing Windows 10 onto an m.2 drive.
I have a B550M Pro4, with a Ryzen 5 3600.

The windows installer will not install on the m.2 drive. It can see the drive and I have reformatted it to both file types, but still no hope. The best answer seems to be the following below, but I can not work out how to do this in the current Bios. Any tips / help?

the steps are:

Disable CSM / UEFI
Enable Secure Boot
Now the installer can access the NVME SSD
Format the drive
Restart the machine
Enable CSM / UEFI

Disable Secure Boot

Proceed to installer and now Windows will allow you to install to the NVME SSD drive

So my question is how do I do the above?

Thanks

Microsoft Boot Manager is exactly what you'll see and use if installed correctly.
