" rel="nofollow - Hello! I am experiencing very long time to get to post screen and further. Sometimes computer doesn't go to post at all. Only fans spin. Usually I get error 78 on debug screen. Clearing cmos seems to help for a while. This happens with bios version 2.40 and I'm using XMP profile 3200 Mhz. Memtest doesn't give any errors. RAM are in slots 2 and 4. What can I do? Long booting is expected with x370? What should I do with getting stuck before post? Restart/clear cmos helps but it is still frustrating. MY system: 1700 CPU, G.Skill 3600 Mhz CL16 and Win10 64. Long POST time is a given with any AM4 board. But that is mainly caused by the AM4 Advance Boot Training option in the UEFI, OC Tweaker screen. There is also a Retry sub option, normally set to 3. Check this page, specifically the boot time for AM4 series entry: http://www.asrock.com/microsite/AM4TSD/" rel="nofollow - http://www.asrock.com/microsite/AM4TSD/ Set AM4 Advance Boot Training to Disabled. We don't know what your memory is without the full model name. So we don't know if the XMP profile was designed for Intel systems (most existing DDR4 has the XMP profiles designed for Intel's now four platforms that use DDR4, vs AMD's one.) The 78 POST code is a Chipset Initialization error, not one we usually see for AM4 boards. So you are in POST, but POST is failing with that test. What is your SOC voltage set to? SOC voltage is the chipset voltage. POST time is affected by many things. Do you have many HDDs or an optical drive? What SATA mode are you using? After several attempts fail with higher DDR4 frequency, system will auto set the memory to the base frequency DDR4-2133MHz to power on the system. About your memory question, please know that the overclocking ability may depend on the CPU's capabilities. However, we still provide below steps for you to try: 1. Please enter the BIOS setup than press [F9] to load BIOS default setting in advance. 2. In OC Tweaker tab, please load XMP profile for your memory module. 3. Adjust the DRAM frequency manually to around 2400. (higher than 2133 for a level) 4. Press [F10] to save the setting and exit. I recently built my new computer: Ryzen 7 1700X Taichi X370 Team Dark Pro 2x8GB 3200 Evga GTX 970 SSC Samsung EVO Pro 500GBx2 Raid 0 ABS Majesty 1100w PSU (yes I know overkill) Rig runs fine on stock settings. I tried over clocking 4.0, 3.9, 3.8, etc but each time it would throw the 78 code. Cleared CMOS and retried each time. Basically it will only boot up on stock 3.4ghz I swapped out the GTX 970 for a 1060 and it will overclock to 3.7. But 3.9 and 4.0 throws 78 code and 3.8 throws 68 code. Any idea why the GPU changes make this difference? Also I never tinkered with the voltages of the CPU Thanks in advance If anyone can tell me if it's a GPU issue or what! |

I do not believe that memory is on the list but i bought it because my close friend has a nearly identical build save for the PSU and different brand GPU and he's running 3.9 without changes to the voltage stable. I'll have to check the BIOS when I get home |

Updating BIOS to 4.6 fixed the issue. It's running stable at 3.9ghz at stock voltage and memory clocked to 3200 Thanks for the help! |
