Website does not say it the X370 Taichi supports SATA 3.0 interface on the second M.2 Slot on that it support PCIe x 2 can you confirm or send this to someone that can help.
The other X370 boards have similar specs and say they support SATA 3.0 interface on the second M.2 Slot.

if this is any help
1 x M.2 Socket (M2_2), supports M Key type 2230/2242/2260/2280 M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen2 x4 (20 Gb/s

20gbs being considerably faster interface speed than sata3 600mb

i think its an ommission in the text on website (as the pcie is faster than some other asrock x370 boards listing only 10gbs on there 2nd slot)

ASRock has a page with answers to several questions about their AM4 boards. One in particular describes the varying M.2 drive support for all the AM4 boards:

http://www.asrock.com/microsite/AM4TSD/" rel="nofollow - http://www.asrock.com/microsite/AM4TSD/

The information in the page above is consistent with the X370 Taichi specs, the M2_2 slot does not support SATA M.2 SSDs.

The design choice for the X370 Taichi is a greater number of SATA III ports compared to other ASRock AM4 boards, but SATA support on only one (M2_1) M.2 slot.

If you used a SATA M.2 SSD in the M2_1 slot, a PCIe NVMe SSD could be used in an M.2 to PCIe slot adapter card, in one of the PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, and be able to boot an OS. The tradeoff there would be the video card limited to a PCIe 3.0 x8 interface. Unless you are an extreme gamer with a high end video card chasing every last FPS, you won't be missing anything.
