" rel="nofollow - Hi,
I'm building a system using the ASRock H110M-STX motherboard. I purchased a case speaker in a plastic bag hanging on a pegboard at a local store for $5.
When I tried to install it on the motherboard, I discovered that the motherboard header for such a device don't match the plug on the speaker I bought. As best as I can tell, the speaker is a standard size.
The plastic fence surrounding the header on the motherboard is smaller than the plug on the speaker, preventing insertion. Also, the header pins are spaced a tiny bit closer together than the corresponding holes on the speaker plug.
Bottom line: I can't use the standard size case speaker I bought owing to the non standard header for such a device on the motherboard.
Anyone know where I can buy a case speaker that fits and works on the ASRock H110M-STX motherboard?
Hope someone knows.

If you check page 10 of the H110M-STX board's manual, you'll find this description of that header:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H110M-STX/?cat=Manual

As you can see, this is a rather unique connector. I have this board in the ASRock DeskMini 110W PC.
We
can see this header is apparently a stereo pair speaker output. I can't
find the information I once found about the Realtek ALC283 chip in this
board, but as I recall this is an output connector for the 1w - 2W two
channel Class D amplifier provided by this chip.
While the description
indicates this header is to be used with a chassis speaker, which could
mean a case speaker, you can see the pin outputs do not match the
standard case speaker. I don't think this header is connected to the
source of the POST beeps we would hear. The UEFI/BIOS has a "Boot Beep"
option, but this is the only header for a speaker(s) on the board. I
have never been able to discover the usage of this header, but stopped
researching it. It may be a two channel audio output, but the DeskMini 110 chassis does not have anything to connect to that header. Stereo audio output is available on the HDMI jack.
The closest connector that might fit this header that I have found is something like this:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4SR1WU0026
IMO, I don't think a POST beep speaker is of much use with this board. The board is quite simple, starts and completes POST very quickly, so very little to diagnose or go wrong.

parsec,
Well, your explanation explains it. No wonder I couldn't connect a case speaker device to this header. OH well, no big deal. I'll use the case speaker I bought on some other system. Thanks for the information.
