" rel="nofollow - Hi all, I have a problem with an Digital
Devices TV Card. The card is only randomly recognized by the system. The
provider asked me to set the PCIe Link Speed parameter to Gen1 as it seems to
be a known issue with ASROCK mother boards. Unfortunately I do not find this
parameter in my AB350 Pro4 BIOS. Has it another name or something? Maybe somebody can drive me to the
right direction or has another suggestion how I could fix this.
It seems if I restart my PC, the card is not recognized.
However, once the PC was completely power off for a while, the card is
recognized on first startup. Or any other suggestion, how I could achieve the
very same start procedure when restarting the PC? I am working mostly remotely on
this machine. Power Off is not really a good solution??I build the system a few days ago, I
build the system some days ago, I would like to avoid to change to another mother
board and setup everything again.

Assuming you have this Option in the BIOS.
BIOS > AMD CBS > NBIO Common Options : PCIe ARI Support - Enable(?)
Please post back you findings.

Hello, thanks for your replay. Unfortunately no luck. Same behaviour with ON and OFF as well as AUTO.

" rel="nofollow - What is residing on the topmost PCIe x16 slot?
If it is the TV card, that's a No No. Again, if it is the TV card move it to a different slot, clear/reset your BIOS after moving it and before powering it up.
Please post back you findings.

Did you clear/reset the BIOS before powering it up?

" rel="nofollow - Hello, thanks again for your feedback.
PCIe configuration top to down:
PCIe 1 (lagre slot): Graphik Card (old one, not powerful) PCIe 2 (small slot): Additional Sound Card PCIe 3 (large slot): free PCIe 4 (small slot): TV card (running well) PCIe 5 (small slot): TV CI Card (this is the one which has the problem)
I tried also to move the card to PCIe 3 with same results.
The PCIe ARI Support parameter I changed in BIOS, save changes, then the system restarts. No luck, also after several restarts and also short power offs, no luck. Only when powering off for minutes, the card returns after first "cold start".
I am not sure what you mean with "clear/reset BIOS before powering up"? Sorry if it is an obvious question.

" rel="nofollow - Whenever you diagnose cards or mem, clear/reset BIOS before powering up.
But ..........
Ewwww. Two TV capture cards? PITA

" rel="nofollow - Ok, I will try with clear/reset BIOS. Then
setting ARI parameter. This is the right sequence, or not? Off topic: It is a TV server, it can receipt 8
SAT TV Channels in parallel and share it via LAN/W-LAN. The clients on TVs,
PCs, Tablets and Mobiles of the family members are running Kodi an can receive
TV channels and plan an play recordings. SAT cables are going only to the
server. But this is for sure another story. One PCIe card is the TV card with 8
channels, the other is the Decrypting module holding pay-tv crypto cards via
common interface. Everything legal. I was even planning to install an additional
TV-Card for terrestrial reception (DVB-T2) of local TV and Radio stations. Thats why I have choosen an MB with several PCIe slots.

" rel="nofollow - not really my field but may i suggest
try swapping tv cards around eg 4 into 5 and 5 into 4 (slots) or trying to test the card in slot 5 alone in both slot 4 and 5
just to see if its a conflict etc
edit another thought are you using the sata ports that share the pcie bus link with the lower down slots ? (eg slot 4 or 5)

" rel="nofollow - Unfortunately I had not much time to test. I reset BIOS and restartd serveral time. Issue was solved, card was detected each time, after restart as well as after longer shut down.
Then I realized that vmware is not working anymore due to the CPU virtualization paramter set to disabled due to the default loaded in BIOS. I changed then only the CPU virtualization to Enabled in BIOS and sadly the detecting issue of the card was back. Any ideas?

That issue with VM should be discussed on the VMWare forum. Or the cards manufacturer for proper drivers.

" rel="nofollow - You know what?
Make sure the the Default of Enabled isn't set for Virtualization in Windows itself.
There can only be one Virtualization "software' running at a time in Windows.

Sorry, maybe I was not precise enough. I run
vmware for other services, the both TV cards are not used in vmware. Can I run
vmware without setting this CPU parameter in BIOS. Without I cannot start any
VM.

" rel="nofollow - Hapi, your last post suggest you should make sure VMware is not using your TV card. You do need the virtual setting in the BIOS to run VMs. Maybe this is a VM problem. Have you posted on the VMware forums? Enjoy, John.
EDIT: wardog, where is this Virtualization setting in W10?
EDIT again: wardog, if you are talking about Hyper-V, this is a Feature that is turned off by default.

Dears, with all respect, but I am sure this is
not a vmware issue. I am working in IT and some knowledge I have also. If the
OS is not seeing the PCIe Card, why vmware should be the root cause? In VMware
workstation it is not possible to use this kind of PCIe Cards in VMs. For such
requirements VMware hyper-v is required (I already run such a setup in the
passt). But it is not the case of this setup. I am using Win10. I can uninstall
VMware an prove it, but I will mess up with such actions my setup for no
reason. For Windows and the VMware on top of it I am sure it will not make
absolutely any difference if I restart the PC or if I do a cold start. For BIOS
however I think it could and also seems that it makes a difference.
Off topic: Currently I am not sure if the
problem is the AMD platform or the ASrock motherboard only. But I am already
sure, I will never buy such thing again. Most parameters are undocumented,
parameters which appear to be necessary like PC link speed disappear or are
renamed and nobody knows what to do. The motherboard has DVI and HDMI connector,
but Video is not supported with the newest AMD CPU. WTF?! Ok, then I buy an old
Video-Card, it's my fold if I did not ready all the disclaimers. Now the issue
with this PCIe card, everything else should be the root cause, but for sure not
the motherboard. If I use this slot, I cannot use the other. Take care, this is
shared, bla bla... How much time I should invest to buy a motherboard? I choose
on purpose not the cheapest one. I choose a board with enough PCIe slots and
SATA slots and I expected that ?œPro??versions of a board, provide all necessary
parameters to use standard hard ware. I did not use an M2 SDD, as at least this
is documented, that it will block SATA and PCIe slot??Sorry for the complains
now, but how many hours I am expected to invest to setup such a standard
configuration??

It must be a hold over that mine here, Creators Ed, is Enabled by Default.

Well, not to throw salt into your wound, but server boards have more attention designed in to work with virtualization than desktop boards. That's not, NOT, me excusing away your concerns.
I've been at this for decades. Using two input cards as you are has been a PITA since I began computing. Some Users have succeeded. Others...well....... not so much.
I'm assuming you haven't contacted the cards manufacturers. You really should.

I have contacted the manufaturer, he suggested for ASrock Mainboards to change PCIe Link Speed parameter to GEN1, they know the problem. As I did not find the parameter I opened this thread.

hapi, I hope you understand that this is a forum of ASRock users not employees. I strongly suggest you contact ASRock support and let them have it! I think your complaints are VERY valid! I have asked about all the undefined terms in the BIOS, receiving no help. AMD support is very responsive. Please open a inquiry with them also. The posters here are very knowledgeable and helpful and often the right place for a quit solution. Please let us know your outcome. Good luck, John.
