" rel="nofollow - So I think I know my issue but not sure by any means.. What I have is an X370 taichi build.../rebuild . When I was ready to build my ryzen system taichi's were nonexsistent so I went to Microcenter and got my 1700x and a board that was all but free. All worked ...well .. aside from everyones ram speed issues (best I got was 2666) Fast forward 3 mos my taichi arrives and I swap it out fully assuming it wont even boot due to other board being a b350 and a diff manufacturer, I was wrong... before I could hit del to goto bios I was at my PW screen like nothing happened . I restarted without logging in and went into the bios , used the online driver download feature within and rebooted. Aside from windows wanting to be reactivated all seemed fine so I proceeded to reactivate windows, uninstall everything related to old MB and used a combo of the APP shop and support page for the taichi to got everything updated as far as I can tell. So... as I'm running some games and benchmarks I'm seeing scores dropping . One that caught my eye was Gears of War4 which I had always gotten an avg fps of 60 (60hz monitor) with mins in the mid 50's , now my mins are in the 30's avg low 50... and the thing that really stuck out was that it used to run at like 99pct gpu useage now it starts in the 70's rises semi quickly to 90-ish then dives to like 30pct....only thing that changed was the MB . Sorry to have to confirm your fears but a fresh install is your best bet. I had issues with my install swapping from one X370 to another then back again (product reviews). This was between two ASRock boards both based on X370. It sucks but reinstalling when swapping motherboards is always a wise choice. -------------

" rel="nofollow - Install Windows with ONLY one HDD/SSD attached to keep from possible having it install it's Swap File on another drive. With one drive attached it keeps the OS contained on one drive. Install your programs fresh, then copy from the old drive(s) its dir from Program Data or Program Data (x86). Too you'll want to copy any pertinent dirs from <user>/AppData also. AppData is Hidden. Do you know how to unhide it so that you work from within it? |

Na. You'll need to Update. (UN)Hiding File Explorer; View tab, Options, that opens Folder Options, View tab, then select "Show hidden files, or drives" , then Apply, and OK |

Torakk, under W10 Settings-Update&Security-Recovery there is a Reset this PC function. You might explore this as a quicker, less traumatic option. I have not used it, so cannot comment. Yea that's where I saw it...security center .. unsure if exactly same as what you meant John, they call it *Fresh Start* but will guess so. ...Update(....fresh windows on formatted drive , all drivers from Asrock or NVidia , removed riser cable so running straight off the board. Only thing ive done in the bios(v3.00) is bump my ram up to 2666, tried 3200 but wouldn't post so I reset CMOS and changed it to 2666 and haven't been back since. Same thing. Thoroughly check the GPU and it's contacts and make sure there is no damage/debris. Also try connecting to another PCIe slot (the other reinforced one) and see if the problem persists. If you can, test the GPU in another system and see if it has developed an issue.

AS I said, I swapped the Hybrid that was in the taichi for an SC2 that was in my 970/8320e system and the 970/8320e system did way better, Taichi with swapped in SC2 card (cards are identical specs with the hybrid having a CLC)showed little to no improvement. Torakk, W10 comes with DirectX 12. I suspect that is not a problem. I was hoping something, like bus speed, would pop up. Please look at the sensor data and make sure that all makes sense. Also post the URL where you DLed the failing game so I can DL it and check the hash codes for you. I see, I didn't get that from your post sorry, I assumed you just tried a 970 in your Taichi system  If other applications/games work as they should, the game reinstall is a good idea to test if maybe it got corrupted. You seem to be on the ball with figuring this out, let us know how the reinstall goes. -------------

Torakk, I can't seem to discover how to DL a trial copy. The estimated DL size is 4.67 MB - 113.73 GB which sounds like many options and it also looks like that I would need to sign-in which I do not want to do. DirectX 12 is listed as a minimum as is W10 x64. Sorry I have not been helpful. I don't think you have a pcie bus issue, but to be sure you can use HWinfo64 to check that. When the GPU is idle, the Pcie link speed on HWinfo will show as 3, and under load it would show as 8. Also, on nVidia control panel set High Performance as power plan and test. Check if the games you are having trouble do not have some sort of frames per second cap. The fact your GPU usage is limited on certain games, but not on benchmarks is really weird to trobleshoot :-( On my system I only see this behaviour when I cap FPS in purpose on certain games.

As yet its only been gears 4 ..both the game which locked up after ~10min and the built in benchmark which shows GPU usage start high then drop to like 30pct by the end.. I have also been using Winaero which has a version of the Windows experience Index?...That shows my desktop graphics at an 8.2 , but my 3D business and gaming graphics performance is a 9.9, that first one has changed in all this...at one point is was 4.9 and once it was 9.1 or so but seems to have settled at the 8.2. Yea that 113gb is what I took 12hrs to download the other day( . just ran same WEI tool on the 1070/8320e system and there it pulled a 9.2 for desktop gfx and the same 9.9 for 3d games etc... Why a lower score for the desktop gfx vs 3d games /business ..on both systems seems odd but the lower score on the Taichi tells me something can't be right somewhere. My Toshiba RD 400 pulled an 8.7 , cpu/ram 9.1~ Just got done running Valley and GPU use never exceeded 60 pct and fluctuated between that 60 and as low as 24pct throughout , never saw higher than 45c for temps. Please verify if you had not set any sort of frame capping on EVGA tool, or Riva tuner statistic server if it's running. Overclocking your card right now only bring confussion to the table. Your problem is not GPU horsepower but useage, try to solve the later first.

Framerate target set to MAX on Precision, never messed with anything on PrecisonX Server. I have the lil led readout set to show cpu temp and it was at 40c, am using an Arctic freezer 240 with the pump header set in bios,my 1070 is an evga icx card and I have those leds set to change color at certain temps and it never hit 50c.Case is currently open and room temp is 60-70f and again this was within minutes of turning it on . Just had a random reboot a few min ago and looking in event viewer I see : A fatal hardware error has occurred. This bluescreen - 0x00000124 can sometimes be hardware related but it most likely is not. I would uninstall all monitoring programs like precision and see if the error goes away. The only one I use is afterburner and I disable low level hardware access and do not install the server part of the app. I had the exact issue with precision and the Asus aisuite on my previous system. you could have a broken wmi repository this is very common on windows and easy to fix. That error does not look fatal though. What are your VDDCR_SOC voltage and VDDP voltage.
