Subject: AGESA 1.0.0.6b

Today ASRock uploaded new BIOS with AGESA 1.0.0.6b for Fatal1ty X370 Professional Gaming and X370 Taichi. The changelog is as follows:
1.Update AGESA to 1.0.0.6b. No memory ABL(AGESA Boot Loader) or training changes.
2.Add setup options to select SMART fan temperature source. Change default to monitor external CPU temperature.
PS1. Windows update is available for version P3.00 or later.

As I understand they didn't work on memory compatibility, though at overclockers.ru one guy reported improvements in stablility of RAM at higher frequency

Curious that AMD has nothing about AGESA 1.0.0.6b in their usual location, the Gaming community blog. That's where AMD described AGESA 1.0.0.6.

https://community.amd.com/community/gaming" rel="nofollow - https://community.amd.com/community/gaming

So I wonder what is the point of this AGESA update?

Having just updated my X370 Taichi, I can tell you it updates the CPU microcode level from 0x8001126 to 0x8001129.

It would be nice to know what that fixes...

i did mine shortly after my post above
didnt really look around at changes (if any to see)
i did notice also the microcode change
ram and cpu settings are as stable as they were in all previous bios for myself
v1.6/v2/v2.3/v3
and running 3.9ghz @1.3 volts now (pstate voltage selection 28)

EDIT
maybe the microcode address the linux issue that i read about in the last week
cant remember exactly what but it was supposed to be cured on later manufacture of ryzen or something myabe this code was to cure the early ones ?

I updated to this bios last night. Now my taichi is a brick. Stuck on error 4f in dr debug. Clearing cmos does not help. 2 week old build so i can rma. Just sucks because i just put in a full custom loop and now i have to tear that down.

michaelpinkava, please see my reply in your thread.  You do not need to post the same problem in multiple threads - so please do not.  Enjoy, John.

If that's the case, I hope performance was not degraded to solve that bug on software :-(

Can't find news about what's included on Agesa 1.0.0.6b :-(

I think improved memory compatibility will be on the 1.0.0.7 microcode update tough

All the thread posters need to make sure they have read the first post.  Apparently there is no memory support changes, just a few bug fixes.  AMD also updated the microcode, but I have seen no explanation of what changed.  AMD and ASRock need to have their collective you-know-what kicked for very poor communication.  Enjoy, John.

Nop, 3.10 rather increases the cold boot times. It cycles the fans one more time compared to 3.0.

With 'quality' of most UEFI versions, I think it's way better to give any new version at least a couple of months, before you update. As the vendors themselves say, if you currently have no issues - better don't install new versions of UEFI. ~230 EUR is not a small amount of money to just burn it.

Guys like me, with nothing to lose, or simply wanting to try the latest features and fixes, can always hop on the beta testing wagon and do the dirty work for everyone. Big smile

John, I mean what kind of bug fixed is included in new agesa. Especially the segfault issue, is it fixed by new microcode?

I have no enumeration of the bug fixes, just a few rare bugs.  What is the segfault issue?  If this is the Linux KVM/NPT issue, the answer is no.  Enjoy, John.

Segfault is problem on Ryzen on Linux. Does anyone here know can segfault problem appear on Windows?

No just asking. I will remain on A4m platform for a very long time so I wanted to be sure that segfault problem is only on Linux.

One guy on reddit told that this segfault problem is cause of Ashes of singularity dx 12 benchmark crash. Also he told that crash in Shadow of Mordor is because segfaults problem because high CPU usage in that game...

If you mean the issue discussed in the link below, noticed in Linux, it could not be fixed with a microcode update. The fix is at the hardware level, with a new processor revision. AMD is apparently replacing processors for affected customers:

Yup.

But, i heard someone from AMD community mention the 3rd replacement chip he received from AMD is still having this segfault issue Confused

And others also confirm the replacement chip will also segfault if they oc the memory to 3200MHz.

Hope AMD can sort this out.

I'll connect the X370 K4 up again that Asrock sent me hopefully over the next few days and let you all know how UEFI 3.2 does. I haven't heard back yet from the last email I sent the contacts I have but I'm not too surprised by that theres a lot of new platforms and chipsets that are out and they are likely just slammed with trying to keep up with it all.

Hopefully the K4 gets some 3200MHz RAM issues resolved soon as that one problem puts a black mark on an otherwise excellent board. Yes for anyone wondering, I would still recommend the X370 K4 because it is so good in every other way, and running my 3200MHz kit of RipjawsV at 3066MHz with 14-14-14-25 1T timings is hardly a bad result, theres just that little something missing at the moment that would give it that magic spice. Hopefully it is just a firmware issue.
