" rel="nofollow - Hello,

i have a Taichi X399 together with an Threadripper 1900X and  a quad kit G.Skill Trident ZF4-3200C14Q-64GTZ.

Getting more and more familiar with the bios (1.60) settings, i noticed that the cpu core voltage idle stays always at around 1,4V. Under prime95 it drops at around 1,25V.
So i changed the settings in the bios - cpu voltage at 1,325V und a LLC of level 3.
Read out with HWINFO64 the results are the same, 1,4V idle and 1,25V under load.
And the values are changing / fluctuating constantly, idle from 1,313 to 1,42, under load from 1,19V to 1,29V.  With LLC 2 the same, with cpu voltage under 1,3V the same.

Is this a normal behavior? It seems that my manual settings in the bios have no effect.
Everything else works fine without any errors.

Thanks
Marcus

" rel="nofollow - Hmmmmm, I don't have one, yet, but .....

Have you enabled Overclock Mode to Manual?

Also, what is Voltage Mode set to?

" rel="nofollow - These are my actual settings:

Overclock mode = manual with 100MHz
CPU Freq and Voltage = 3800MHz and 1.3V
Voltage Mode = Stable Mode
CPU Vcore Voltage = Auto
CPU LLC = Level 3
VDDCR_SOC LLC = Level 3

Have i missed a necessary setting?

" rel="nofollow - Hi,
Overclock mode = Auto
Pstate0 FID = 98 (3800 MHz)
Offset Voltage = +0.xxxx ???
Voltage Mode = Stable Mode
CPU LLC = Level 5
VDDCR_SOC LLC = Level 5

See Video, Time = 6:15

Thanks!
I set everything to auto except your settings.
Pstate0 FID = 98 (3800 MHz)
Voltage (uV) = 1300000
Pstate0 VID = 28
Offset Voltage = 0.00625

But this doesn't change the voltage on idle, it is constantly over 1,4v.

I tried the OC Mode OC 1 in the zen common options and with this the cpu voltage was about 1,36V.
But i don't want to overclock, just an idle voltage under 1,4V.

So i set custom pstate0 to FID 98 3800MHz and VID 2a 1287500uV.
But again - idle voltage over 1,4V.

" rel="nofollow - Next attempt was setting a fixed voltage instead of offset. With this the values in HWInfo VCore and CPU Core voltage SVI2 TFN were correct (under 1,3V), but all Core VID entries showing me 1,55V?

" rel="nofollow - Update:
I have played a little bit more with the settings.
Everything to auto except:
Pstate0 FID = a0 (4000 MHz)
Voltage (uV) = 1125000
Pstate0 VID = 44
Offset Voltage = 0.17500

Now i have a Core VID at 1,125V and Vcore at 1,296V
Under prime95 the Core VID drops at 1,1V.
I did the same with Pstate0 FID 9c (3900 MHz) with the same results.
Running prime95 for an hour, no errors, temps ok.

I don't know it exactly, but i think the right combination of pstae0 VID and Offset is the trick?
