I updated the BIOS on my B85 Anniversary system to Version 1.60 using the Internet Flash method. However, after rebooting all I get is a black screen. I tried power cycling several time to no avail. Please help.

Cheers!

Dear Korndog,

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

Regarding your case, we provide some suggestions to try:

1.     Please download the BIOS ROM file from ASRock website, unzip it and copy it to a USB flash drive, insert it into a USB 2.0 port on rear USB port. Restart the system, the crashless BIOS feature should recover the BIOS update.

2.     Clear CMOS to load BIOS default.

Please unplug the power cord and remove the power cable from motherboard.

Move the clear CMOS jumper to 2-3 for 5 minutes.

Please check user manual p18 to find the clear CMOS jumper.

3.     Only install CPU and one stick memory to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.

4.     Please try to install one stick memory at A1, B1, A2 and B2 slot to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.

5.     Reinstall CPU and check if CPU socket pin is fine.

6.     If it is possible, please change another CPU or DRAM to check if the system can boot into BIOS properly.

Thank you!

Yours truly,

ASRock TSD

" rel="nofollow - Thank you so much for the reply! This morning I tried suggestions 1-5 but unfortunately no luck. I do not have a spare processor for suggestion 6, but given the timing of this issue it is almost certainly a BIOS corruption issue, no? What are the next steps?

Thanks in advance!

-Vince

" rel="nofollow - I received and installed the BIOS chip but the system still will not boot. All I see is a black screen on my monitor. After installing the BIOS chip do I need to take any additional actions such as copying a BIOS update file to a USB drive?

Thanks for your help!
