Hello,
So I have a very niche issue with my motherboard. In order to fit the biggest air cooler I can in my SUPER small case (DANCASE A4) I need to mill down the VRM heatsink roughly 7 mm. The VRM heat sink is attached to the chipset via a heatpipe (which doesn't needed to be modified to fit my needs).
I have two options as far as I can tell, other than get a new cooler which is not an option I'm willing to entertain.

I have individual VRM heat sinks that I could use with thermal tape but would have to cut the heat pipe that connects the two heat sinks. I believe this would lower the overall heat sinking capabilities of the VRM as the VRM is way more likely to heat up and use the extra chipset heatsink cooling rather then vise versa. Also I wouldn't be able to use that VRM heatsink again as it would most likely be destroyed in the process.

The other option is to mill down the VRM heatsink just to the top of the heat pipe without puncturing it keeping them still connected with just less mass and slightly worse thermal performance. (though a fan will be blowing directly on the VRM so that shouldn't really matter)

I am well aware that milling heat sinks would most certainly void any warranty that my board has but that's not an issue for me. What I am wondering is if there is a way I could buy a replacement heatsink directly from ASrock perhaps from a dead board or stock.  Hell I'd really love to get the new z370 itx heatsink which looks the exact same just black instead of red as it would look nicer in my build. I believe it will be a VERY long time before I can get dead for parts boards on ebay because ASrock in my experience makes very good quality motherboards and unless someone drops a hammer on one finding for parts boards won't be viable till I'm ready for a totally new platform. I'd like to have a backup in case I mangle my first attempt so I don't have to rebuy a MB for a heatsink.

" rel="nofollow - The best I can suggest for you is to submit the Repair/RMA form for the USA region, to request a replacement heatsink. You can also access this form from the ASRock main mother board information page, clicking on Support at the top, right side of the screen, and then the Repair/RMA link.

This is the URL for the Repair/RMA form for the USA region:
