" rel="nofollow - Hi,

I just got this MB the other day and I'm trying to understand exactly how many of the 1- SATA Ports can be used at the same time.  From what the manual says:

* M2_1, SATA3_0 and SATA3_1 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled.

* M2_2, SATA3_4 and SATA3_5 share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled.

From reading this, if you are not using any M2 drives and only SATA hard drives/SSDs, the
most SATA ports that are usable at one time are 8?  I'm confused why ASRock even put 10 SATA ports on the MB if only 8 can be used at one time?

Any feedback would be great.

Dear JB2017,

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

Regarding your question, if you do not use any M.2 device, all 10 SATA ports can be used at one time.

"M2_1" and "SATA3_0, SATA3_1" share lanes, "M2_2" and "SATA3_4, SATA3_5" share lanes, if you connect an M.2 device on one M.2 slot, two SATA ports will be disabled because lanes share.

Thank you!

Yours truly,

ASRock TSD

Can anyone answer this question:

The manuel stated that: If M2_1 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_0 will be disabled.
The prominent word there is:  SATA-Type M.2 Device
Since M.2 Device also come in PCIe-Typer Device, does this mean if I the PCIe Device on the M.2 Slot instead of the SATA-Type, the SATA ports will not be disabled
