Hello. New user, just set up a taichi - threadripper system and I was wondering why I am getting different temperature readings in A-tuning and Ryzen Master. Any clues? Thank you in advance.

ventralstreams,  I suspect you are seeing the effects of AGESA 1.0.0.3.  I have not used A-Tuning, but several have complained of the temperature reporting in TR.  Please take a look in your BIOS-HW Monitor to see the temperatures.  We should be getting a new AGESA/BIOS soon and hopefully this will be corrected.  If you have more questions, please post your system specifications in your signature as I have.  Thanks and enjoy, John.

" rel="nofollow - Hm... Checking the bios(1.70) it appears that A-Tuning displays the correct temprature (fifty-something at startup which seems high) and RyzenMaster is off by a lot. Do you think that something may be wrong? Thank you.

I wonder if this is another example of Ryzen's Tdie and Tctl temperature readings, now with TR?

Monitoring programs don't necessarily read the CPU temperature at the same time, but the difference between Tdie and Tctl is 20° C (Tdie + 20 = Tctl).

Do you ever see the difference between the Ryzen Master and A-Tuning CPU temperatures as exactly 20° C apart?

Have you tried any other monitoring programs to check the TR CPU temperature? I suggest a program called HWiNFO64, just for another opinion and another data point to compare:

The difference between the two is about 30 degrees Celsius (right now it is 28 and fluctuating between 56 and 65). It could have something to do with what you mention but I don't know why it is +10 degrees.

EDIT: Using HWiNFO i get CPU(Tctl) 57.7C
        CPU(Tdie) 30C

The temperature offset in ryzen is 20c This was changed to 27c in TR. So if Tctl is reading lets say 57c then the true cpu temp (Tdie) is 30c
