Subject: Asrock A-Tuning app doesnt run on x399 Taichi
Date Posted: 29 Oct 2017 at 12:38pm
" rel="nofollow - Hi,
I just put together my new X399 Taichi system with a 1920x CPU and windows 10.
Havent had any issues installing drivers or software except with the ASRRGBLED which keeps BSOD the system and the A-Tuning software which when trying to open will launch an error windows.
Saying: Access violation at address 0000FFFF. Read of address 0000FFFF.
Can anyone help me? Would be great if both software run, but for the moment I will concentrate on the A Tuning as I want a way to control Fan Speeds and temps.
Thanks.

1. Have you updated the UEFI to the newest version. 2. Try this A-Tuning version (3.0.174) http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Utility/A-Tuning/A-Tuning" rel="nofollow - http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Utility/A-Tuning/A-Tuning (v3.0.174).zip

If by UEFI you mean latest Bios, then yeah, first thing I did when finished putting system together Bios version 1.7. I have tried the version you linked here and is throwing the same error.

UEFI replaced BIOS long time ago. Some parts of BIOS are now only emulated under UEFI, so a more proper is now to use "UEFI". But yeah, that's what I meant with update
Are you running ANY kind of other monitoring software for PSU, GPU, etc. (Even if it disabled it still loads the drivers).
Have you tried any memory stability tests.

" rel="nofollow - I know what UEFI is was just wondering if thats what you were refereeing to, I use Afterburner for the GPUs, and used core temp, even though I do not use it anymore.
System is used for rendeing and RAM is pretty much running max out usage wish 98%, settings wise is not overclocked using XMP profile and system runs pretty stable.
Ill run a memory test if you want, what software would you suggest? Memtest?
Thanks in advance.

" rel="nofollow - Try Memtest64 https://www.techpowerup.com/memtest64/
and OCCT http://www.ocbase.com/index.php/download
BTW - on W10 x64, Fall CU I assume?
Update: I know that A-Tuning should not be compatible with the X399 FPG but I tested it anyway (should error out on initialisation, but not with the access violation) and guess what --- the exact same access violation error. My Rig is rock-stable 24/7 (except some early quirks with Vega which are now solved).
Care to test the F-Stream tuning on your board? http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Utility/F-Stream/F-Stream(v3.0.173).zip
This is what I use personaly (and RyZEN Master for TR). Theoretically not compatible with Taichi, but since our boards are 90% same.... test it

Thanks for the response, yep updated win10 x64 before then the system run like crap, am sure it had to do with the age of the platform, ever since updating Win, it runs way smoother.
Am rendering right now, so Ill do memory tests once finished.
I tried the F-stream version you linked and the exact same access violation error. #
EDIT
OK so I tested using the software above, Memtest and OCCT multiple times and all the reports come back OK. I really dont know whats up with the software.

" rel="nofollow - Please just, stop
A-Tuning is a buggy software and it requires that Ultra Fast Boot needs to be disabled in UEFI to work normally, which is in my opinion just stupid.

" rel="nofollow - Please stop what?
I dont have Ultra Fast Boot enable, and whether the software is buggy or not, I should at least be able to run it, and get the RGB or others work, if not, thats no my faulty for asking else where since so many people are having this issue and is not resolved but just turning on CSM.
If there isnt a solution soon, Ill change board, I like to control fans by PWM and lights on OS.
It is not acceptable that you buy an expensive mobo and cant get their main software working from the get go.
Unacceptable Asrock.

" rel="nofollow - Ok, let's start again, maybe it sounds rude but I'm trying to help here.
It's not your hardware/software fault, so debugging it will not help, and You will just waste your time like I did.
1. A-Tuning , disabling Ultra fast boot, switching to CSM should work, try to shut off your PC completely with removing power cord for 1 min. , 3.0.160 ver. works for me with 1.70 Bios.
2. Newest ASRRGBLED bsods for me too, but previous version works ok (don't remember it's number)
This is just a bit newer platform than x299 and have a lot of early problems, which could be resolved in time, seems that number of testers is too small for now. Some problems like these with G.Skill RGB rams are more complicated and involve different vendors (all platforms are affected) I would never buy this RGB products if I knew that cannoct control it or just switch it off.
The point is that we are not informed if any problem will be resolved or even if is known so far. Probably Asus is less buggy with with his Aura platform (one to cotrol them all) but only probably ...

I understand the platform is new but that beyond Q&A standard, however new this might be it very limited on CPUs and OS it can have, it would be better if the Asrock site had access to previous working apps.
Will just have to wait I guess not the best of excuses to have your own software not working under the latest OS, but yeah.
I have no way of controlling the Fans, pumps and temps read, which the most fustrating.... it just marketing dont sell the board with capable features if they dont work for loads of people, that was my point.
Not trying to be a dikc, I do appreciate all the answer and help.
Thanks, havent been on AMD platform for a while, but after spending all this money and seeing it run very rough under just Windows OS, its made me see this platform will take forever to be optimized, which isnt Asrocks issues anyways,

Are you overclocking your ram?
I was overclocking my ram and tried to run the Asrock RGB LED ver 1.0.29 that I downloaded from asrock site, it tried to update the firmware and just crashed the computer....did it twice, so I booted into safe mode and tried to run it an a message poped up saying it wasn't compatible with this platform so I rebooted to bios, set ram to stock/F9 and went back into windows, uninstalled RGB LED and used Asrock APPShop to download and install the RGB LED and then ran it and it updated the RGB firmware just fine and now runs ok, so not sure if it was the ram overclock or the version of RGB LED was wrong.........
