Hi, Just assembled the above named board with a brand new (untested) 5820K, a Zotac GTX970 (tested, confirmed working) and two new (untested) 2x16GB DIMMs from Corsair, a kit that just hit the market: http://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance-lpx-32gb-2x16gb-ddr4-dram-2400mhz-c14-memory-kit-black-cmk32gx4m2a2400c14" rel="nofollow - Vengeance® LPX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C14 Memory Kit - Black (CMK32GX4M2A2400C14)The power supply is a Corsair RM450 that is also verified to work. The system will, however, not POST. So either one of the board, the 5820K or the memory kit are DOA. I have ordered a standard 4GB 2133 DDR4 DIMM from Corsair (arriving tommorow) to test whether there is an incompatibility between the motherboard and the 16GB DIMMs but if not what other suggestions do you have short of sending the pkg of motherboard+CPU back? Thanks |

There are zero 16GB DIMMs listed in your board's Memory Support list. A quick check of other X99 boards, including my own, show no 16GB DIMMs listed in the Memory Support list. There is a new BIOS version for your board, 1.20, that improves memory compatibility. Of course your board may have that version now, as it is dated 5/13/2015. My guess is the 16GB DIMMs are simply not compatible without a new BIOS update. You could try using one DIMM in the B1 slot, farthest from the CPU socket. I would definitely wait until the 4GB DIMMs arrive and try those. Be sure to clear the CMOS/BIOS when you try the new memory. On another topic, you may find that your RM450 PSU is a bit on the weak side for long term use with that system. Particularly if you will be gaming with your 970 video card. The RM450 may work for you, but will likely be operating at its maximum output while gaming. Also, it is required that a cable from the PSU is connected to the eight pin CPU power connector, otherwise the CPU will not start. If you only have a four pin cable for that connector from the PSU, insert it into the four pins of the board's connector on the right side. ------------- http://valid.x86.fr/48rujh" rel="nofollow">

I'm having the exact same issue. X99E-ITX/ac with a 5820K, a Gigabyte GTX980ti G1, 2x16GB CMK32GX4M2A2400C14 and a Samsung SM951 M.2 SSD. Turning the system on with the ram installed will not POST, however removing both modules and turning the system on will result in the expected 3 beeps for no memory. I would therefore assume that the board and CPU are working. I'm fully aware that the compatibility list on the ASRock website doesn't list any 16GB modules, which to me seems like an oversight since the spec list of the board states Max. capacity of system memory: 32GB - which due to the fact that this board has only 2 slots, means 2x16. And looking around on the internet, you can find a few build logs where people have had success with 16GB modules in the X99E-ITX/ac - just not these Corsair modules which have just been released. Having a look at the Mainboard compatibility list on Corsair's website ( http://www.corsair.com/~/media/Corsair/download-files/manuals/dram/DDR4-Compatibility.pdf" rel="nofollow - http://www.corsair.com/~/media/Corsair/download-files/manuals/dram/DDR4-Compatibility.pdf ) shows that this particular set of modules (15th row from the top) is actually compatible with the following ASRock boards: - X99 Extreme3 - X99 Extreme4 - Fatal1ty X99M Killer - X99 Extreme6/ac - X99 Extreme4 - X99 Extreme6 - Fatal1ty X99X Killer - X99 WS - X99 OC Formula - X99 Professional - X99 WS-E - X99 Extreme11 So if other ASRock X99 boards are compatible with this particular kit, it stands to reason to assume that the X99E-ITX/ac is too, or at least can be compatible with a BIOS update. The bios flash chip on my board has a sticker with "P1.20" on it, so I guess that's the 1.20 from 5/13/2015 and not the P1.20E beta bios from 7/31/2015.

| Ok this is good news in the sense that it almost rules out a DOA issue. The sticker on my bios chip reads 1.10, even older than yours. Please let us know if the beta bios you mention (1.20E) solves the issue - otherwise this should be looked at closer by ASRock engineering .. |

Sadly I don't have any other memory available to me right now. Might head into town tomorrow to see if any of the local stores have DDR4 modules in stock and will update here if anything changes. :)

I'm sure at some point UEFI/BIOS updates will be available to allow the use of 16GB DIMMs on the X99E-ITX/ac and other ASRock X99 boards. The specification of 32GB maximum memory capacity on the X99E-ITX/ac is not an oversight due to the capacity of the DIMMs available. The maximum memory capability is based upon the board's use of two memory channels with only one slot per channel, and the maximum memory spec of the I7-5000 series processors, which is 64GB. @parsec: I wasn't referring to the spec of 32GB max being an oversight, but not having any 16GB modules listed as being compatible. I'm well aware of the fact that these are still quite rare, but there are modules, like the http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR21R15D4_16.pdf" rel="nofollow - Kingston - confirmed working with the X99E-ITX/ac. So it seems strange to me that ASRock has decided to not test any of the available 16GB modules, because not having any listed as compatible to me means that they haven't tested any. @alfaSZ: Have you tried the P1.20E? As far as I know, that one only improves NVMe compatibility for certain M.2 SSDs as well as the M.2 to U.2 adapters, but you never know. I won't be able to do it myself since no store here in Cork, Ireland has any DDR4 modules in stock and I would have to order them online first.

The situation, or reality currently, is ASRock and other mother board manufactures are dealing with the release of Skylake processor boards. Add to that the release of Windows 10, and they are all rather busy right now. I have a new ASRock X99 Extreme6/3.1 board, and its UEFI/BIOS could use some work too IMO. Exactly when we'll get some updates, I truly do not know. Yeah, I was sent the L1.35 as well. Glad to hear that it works for you, alfaSZ. I'm still waiting for the single 4gb module I ordered so I can actually flash the BIOS. :S

Xandr / alfaSZ: I've got the same issue with those corsairs and have been waiting for asrock support to get back to me for some time. Is it possible to point me to the download link for the L1.35 BIOS or just send it to me directly? I was able to borrow a *GB DIMM from a friend to POST the MB but am running out of time before I have to give it back. Thanks!
