My problem is that when ever I start Samsang Magician in Windows 10 clean install, that it locks up my whole system.

When I upgraded to windows 10 pro from windows 8.1, everything ran fine, Samsung magician (v4.6) ran as it should.

(Samsung Magician is the optimization/firmware updater programme for my SSD drive)

But when I do a clean install of windows 10, Samsung Magician locks up the system resulting in a hard reboot being required.

I have installed all the windows 10 64bit drivers for my Motherboard and tried all available versiosn of Samsung Magician without it helping.

If I restore the win10 upgrade image back to my drive it all works as it should again, have checked my SSD drive for errors and it is reporting that it is all good, iv'e updated to the latest firmware as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try please ?

If you check the Samsung Magician 4.6 Installation Guide, you'll see that Windows 10 is not listed the System Requirements section:

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/downloads/software/Samsung_Magician_46_Installation_Guide.pdf" rel="nofollow - http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/downloads/software/Samsung_Magician_46_Installation_Guide.pdf

I'm sure Samsung would tell you that the version 4.6 Magician software is not supported in Windows 10.

It's interesting that the upgrade version of Win 10 from Win 8.1 allows you to run the Magician software. The upgrade version may be setting the existing programs in a Win 8.1 installation to run in Win 8 compatibility mode. You can set that yourself by:

  1. Right click on the Magician software shortcut and select Properties.
  2. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  3. Find the Compatibility mode section, and check the box for Run the program in compatibility mode for:
  4. Click on the drop down list, and select Windows 8.
  5. Click Apply/OK.

I cannot guarantee that will work for you, but it's worth a try. Let us know about the result.
