Hi all,

Thinking of building a PC. Will be my first time.  I've been doing a bit of research to make sure I run into as little problems as possible, and found that the Taichi doesn't list the 850 EVO Samsung SATA SSD on its compatible hard drives list.  In fact, there are no Samsung SATA SSD's listed. http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370%20Taichi/#Storage" rel="nofollow - https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370%20Taichi/#Storage Is this an oversight? It seems like a mainstream enough SSD that I'm surprised it's not listed.

My build is below. I checked the compatibility on all the other pieces, they seem to check out. But thinking I might have to switch to an ADATA SSD or something similar, even though sacrifice slight performance boost.

As for bios update, do I update to 3.2 -- the latest version -- straight away, or do I have to incrementally update?

And finally, there are some driver updates listed on the x370 taichi site -- should i download those drivers, or go to the manufacturers website (e.g. intel, creativelabs) instead? And lastly, what's the AMD all in 1 driver? http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370%20Taichi/#Download" rel="nofollow - https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370%20Taichi/#Download

Sorry about all the questions. Never built a pc before and realize I may be biting off more than I can chew with Ryzen platform, but doing research ahead of time to make sure I know what I'm getting into.

Motherboard: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fZKhP6/asrock-x370-taichi-atx-am4-motherboard-x370-taichi" rel="nofollow - ASRock - X370 Taichi ATX AM4 Motherboard   ($173.98 @ Newegg)

another good choice ,these sticks are pretty much sure fire for overclocking on the taichi

Storage: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ZNBrxr/samsung-960-evo-250gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-mz-v6e250" rel="nofollow - Samsung - 960 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive   ($127.99 @ Amazon)

very strong card (bit worried about the power draw and your choice of psu though

Case: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/F28H99/nzxt-ca-s340w-w2-atx-mid-tower-case-ca-s340w-w2" rel="nofollow - NZXT - S340 Elite (White) ATX Mid Tower Case   ($89.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Power Supply: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Rp8H99/corsair-power-supply-cp9020091na" rel="nofollow - Corsair - RMx 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply   ($69.99 @ Newegg)

Monitor: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/T8dFf7/dell-monitor-u2515h" rel="nofollow - Dell - U2515H 25.0" 2560x1440 60Hz Monitor   ($297.99 @ Best Buy)

you dont mention case fans
i use two x 120mm front intake and two x 120 mm exhaust at rear to compliment my noctua air-air heatsink and fan

as for bios your board should ship with version 2 or later ,use the instant flash in bios to update to ANY LATER version you choose, i can vouch for 3.1 being fine with everything

drivers i used asrock for (this was back in late march/april) EXCEPT I USED THE AMD DIRECT CHIPSET DRIVERS not the all in one

building pcs is good fun ,dont panic
install windows and all updates inc bios before you doing any overclocking including setting xmp ram
