Hi.

First of all I have issues with the RAM XMP profile.

My RAM is Kingston HyperX Predator 2x16 Gb DDR4 3000 CL15 (HX430C15PB3K2/32) and it is officialy tested with the motherboard. RAM sticks are in positions: A2 & B2

However, it took some time to find out that XMP profile 1 (that uses the full potential of the RAM e.g. 3000 Mhz) is causing some relatively minor issues:
- the system boots "twice" before entering Windows: meaning when PC powered on - it turns on for a short moment and then it shuts down and then turns on finally.
- because this double boot it is not possible to enable ultra fast boot because "restart to UEFI" from windows doesn't work

System works stable and boots normally once with XMP profile 2 - but that's at 2400 Mhz speed and not 3000 Mhz.

Notes: everything under BIOS regarding RAM and CPU is set to "Auto", no custom entries made.
The system has latest v1.22 BIOS (tried from 1.00 to 1.20 BIOSes).
I've tried reseting the BIOS to defaults, and problem of double booting occurs only when XMP1 (3000mhz) is applied.
 

I also had issues with i7 8700 (non-K) not using full potential (stuck at circa 3000+ Mhz with BCLK clock 102,3), but apparently this new BIOS update 1.22 released today resolves it.

I don't know if this is related to some mobo issues, but it takes time (tens of seconds) upon booting to pass B4 code and then A2.

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

 

Regarding your case, we have check with our BIOS engineer; the double restart is clarified as Intel ME OC rule.

In order to let DRAM frequency match with the memory SPEC DDR4-3000, we have applied the auto rule BCLK:102.3 when the XMP profile is applied. (DRAM frequency is depend on the BLCK multiple)

 

For some specific situations, system is required to do additional reset to apply the BCLK setting to achieve DDR4-3000 "precisely".  

Ps. the memory OC setting is control by ICC; ICC is built in Z370 PCH and driving by Intel ME.

 

For this case, we provide a workaround for you to avoid double boot:

1. Please press [F9] to load BIOS default setting in advance.

2. Under OC Tweaker tab, please load XMP profile for your memory module.

3. Adjust the BCLK Frequency to default value "100".

4. Adjust the DRAM frequency to "2933" or "3066" manually.

5. Save the setting and exit.
