" rel="nofollow - I ordered the same ram kit. It will be delivered today and I have a x370 Fatal1ty Gaming X. I'll let you know if it will post @ 3200 using the xmp profile 2.0. I believe the the K4 and X are almost identical except the K4 has better VRM, right?

I just got the X370 Gaming K4 with the most stubborn RAM for Ryzen....  The thing to watch out for is literally all the sub timings if it doesn't post (I know, yuck).   I have Kingston's HyperX 2x4GB kit - that's 2666Mhz dual rank DIMM's with SK Hynix M-Die RAM.  It runs fine at 2666Mhz.  It won't post anything higher if any of the timings/sub timings are set to "auto".  But after calculating and setting the timings manually to appropriate values, it runs perfectly fine all the way to 3200Mhz on 1.2V (yes, that's 3200Mhz on dual ranked dimm's with Hynix M-Die RAM stable), and so far seems to be happily running 3400Mhz at 1.35v.  I found the default or "auto" timings (and sub timings) are both too loose and too tight through out the timing list.   If it dosen't post at 3200Mhz, that might be the only way to get it going.

Update: so I just slapped on the gskill flare x 8gbx2 3200 cl14 and I was able to get it to post @ 3466mhz but at cl15 not cl14.

I tried cl14 at 3200 and it still would not post unless i bump the cl to 15 or more.

In addition, when I open up hwinfo, it says the cl is at 16 when i set it to 15 in the bios. i cant dont know why. regardless, my gigabyte gaming k5 board will be here tomorrow and im sending back the asrock. too much of a headache to get ram to run at specified cl and speed.

ok so will you send the gigabyte board back when you discover that wont run any cl latency at odd numbers e.g. cl15 as well ?
its an amd agesa function/issue
it will change any odd cas number to the next higher even number, the workaround at the moment is to disable geardown mode and then this allows you to use odd numbers
seeing as you have already ordered another board its not much use either of us spending time to get your ram working at cl14 either at 3200 or faster then

Thanks for making me aware of the gear down mode.

I've read that no one knows if its a BIOS update that will fix it or if its an actual hardware limitation. If it is just a simple BIOS update that will fix it, then I would prefer to keep the ASRock but since I cant determine that I have to find a board that works and I've read others who own Gigabyte boards that say they can get their Flare X 3200 CL14 to post at those timings and speeds.

" rel="nofollow - the problem is across the range
ram and its am4 bios settings is a mess mate
you already have made the right move by buying the flarex

but the issue we have is the bios making it work
plug and play would be nice but its just not happening all the time

the best solution ?

so far by far seems to be using this ryzen dram calculator
http://www.overclock.net/t/1640919/ryzen-dram-calculator-overclocking-dram

it'll take you about 20 mins to sort out
basically you grab the xmp info from your ram kit
enter the data into the ryzen calculator it then will suggest the actual settings to enter for the ram sticks you have
screenshot and print or take a piccie on ya smartphone
nip into the bios enter the settings and reboot

with your ram kit
i can suggest no issues at all running settings given to you by the calculator at 3200 and 'fast'

in all honesty your dram kit should be able to do the 3333 fast settings as well

p.s. please be aware there is two pages of settings from this tool
the settings suggested ARE MEANT TO BE *ALL* USED

cherry picking a few may well not work stable or smoothly
this includes setting proc odt/cldo vddp/geardown modes etc
and some times they are a pain to find in bios

I didn't know about that calculator - I made my own in Open Office Calc. Cool

The main problem with the x370 Fatality K4 is that it's advertised at max 2933 memory OC, so If you can't get your flarex running at 3200 cl14 by using the Ryzen calculator @datyonb mentioned, it's better to get another mobo instead of fighting with the K4 :-(

I'll post the settings I use with the same FlareX memory, that I derived from the Ryzen memory calculator. The program was done for an Asus board, and the settings are not 100% identical. I had to change some of them and fix a couple before they would even POST.

Also a few of the more advanced settings suggested would not work at all, particularly for ProcODT.

As always, any memory OC is not guaranteed, and depends upon multiple factors, including the quality of the memory controller (part of the CPU), board, UEFI, and memory itself. I'll provide these as potentially helping you, but I cannot guarantee that they will work for you at 3200.

Nothing has been mentioned about any voltage option changes, such as SOC voltage, that help with a memory OC. Are you familiar with those?
