" rel="nofollow - I bought a Taichi z370 because it has the USB3.1 Type C (gen2) I/O speeds available. I saw that there was no USB3.1 gen2 cord supplied for the front so it appears I have to buy a cable to reach a front-of-case panel. And buy a panel. That's OK, I just hope the 3.1 gen2 interface works...

The Type-C header on the edge of the board supports ONE more external high-speed Gen-2 fitting, right? There is nothing specific in the manual for the board.

How have others made this work? There are two more USB3.1 Gen1 ports available in the "USB 5+6" header on the mobo so I am considering a panel that offers both kinds of USB3.1. It would be good if that panel also had a couple of USB2 ports, too, but that seems on first search of NewEgg and Amazon to be impossible to find lots of ports in the right mixture, no audio. No card reader needed. I have good professional versions of card readers for my work.

I have two USB3.1 gen 1 ports on the front of the new CoolerMaster Master 5 case now and audio, so I don't need audio on that aftermarket panel I'm searching for.

When I started this thread I was expecting to offer a link to a likely front panel product about which all of you could comment. In fact, there are very few true USB3.1 Type-C *Gen 2* offers. Perhaps this is a too-new (read: small) market for the makers to offer units.

Suggestions? Experience to offer? Thanks in advance.

There are so few of these to look at that are made to provide full Gen 2 speed and Type-C connector. Two that came up (one from ASRock!) require use of a full SATA Express connector. I have the native Gen2 connector so I want to use that, of course (and I don't have the SATA Express.)

This was a future-proofing move anyway, so will just steal the two-port USB3.0 5.25-inch panel from my existing tower and use that until there's more choice in the marketplace. Funny, I saw that there were fewer 5.25 bays on cases now, makes sense -- except when you need them for I/O flexibility out where you can easily get at it.

Perhaps a couple of months are needed, and perhaps ASRock will create an updated version of their rig offered for z170-era mobos (judging from what I found...a guess.)
