well that didnt bring much to the table..................

installed, checked the amd folder and have nothing dated today installed apart from a text document listing status checks on my hdmi

so wasted 10 mins of my life for nothing

thanks for the new chipset drivers amd !!!!!!!!!!!!

wierdly enough i have around 15 ish subfolders for all other chipset driver [packadges and the crimson relive packs for my graphics
including the new adrelalin radeon driver from yesterday

but no file dated today for the chipset,
i thought it strange the pc didnt ask for a reboot after the alledged driver install

" rel="nofollow - What about the newest 'Adrenalin' GPU drivers? They usually pack a new chipset driver along.

EDIT: apparently the 17.40 are the ones released along 'Adrenalin'. I have many folders when extracted but the timestamps are quite dated for all of the different sub-systems.

i did install that yesterday, so maybe it was already installed

but as it went thru a chipset driver install pack today, i was expecting a request for reboot

and checking the amd folder i have seperate folders for every other chipset version as well as every radeon gpu pack

so it seems strange i dont have a chipset 17.04 folder now

IDK man. Win 10 drivers control was always beyond me.

It either chooses to install newer driver in mid-game session, or it just insists on a specific one and always rolls back to it.

I have to uninstall a driver, unplug the LAN, clear driver cache and THEN install the newest one. Otherwise Win 10 rolls back its preferred one during mid-install of what user's trying to currently load. Go Team Win 10!

yes it seems to be a bit buggy (well the installation side anyway)

several guys have found a workaround
they delete the amd folder from c drive and then run the installer

my personal view is this
1, if the setup installer is flawed, im not trusting the actual chipset files Ouch
2, i also run an amd gpu card ,deleting the amd folder will delete my gpu files as well

so for me , its a no thank you keep the new chipset drivers amd ,i'll continue on the old ones for now (these being the ones that never actually auto installed the sata driver anyway, which was in my mind yet another bug)

The download continually fails for me. Not sure why, but I tried several times with different browsers, etc.

It should ONLY be downloaded from AMDs site:

yes workaround is delete "amd chipset driver" folder within C:\AMD\ Folder and rerun setup
