" rel="nofollow - Hi guys!
So, I've had an X370 Taichi for a while, but I'm finally deciding to look for a solution to a problem I've been having.
I have a Samsung 960 Evo drive that I've been using as my OS/Boot drive, and I also have a 1 TB SATA HDD from Western Digital. My problem that I have is that when I have my SATA HDD plugged in, it shows as Drive 0, instead of Drive 1. And also, when I install Windows, it shows this as well. It even adds some random system partition on the backup/storage drive as well.
Is there a way around this?

" rel="nofollow - Reinvented, I think not. I worked hard some time ago to fix this. It seems that Windows sets the disk number as it pleases. Sometime it was one way and another time another. Why do you need to know the disk number in advanced? I converted to use the volume name. Enjoy, John.

well this gets setup when u install windows...boot drive gets 0 and windows sets that based on your sata cable port numbers and bios boot hdd priority tho u can fix that (if windows installed and is using incorrect boot drive) in bios by changing boot priority (it shouldnt boot if theres no boot record on that drive) but with usb stick/cd with windows u can repair boot drive

Try keeping your other drive unplugged when installing Windows on the NVMe.

I did. And it showed as Drive 0 throughout install. Then, when I plugged it back in and SSD NVME shows as Drive 1, and HDD Storage shows as Drive 0.

My boot order is correct. However, an NVME does not have a SATA port. I even used the bottom ones for the SATA HDD, and it still gets considered as Drive 0.

" rel="nofollow - This is a long shot, but are you using Samsung's own drivers for the NVMe and have you checked that the 960 Evo has the latest firmware installed?

Yes. In fact, I have a Firmware that they also pulled due to bugs. Hasn't really affected it at all. I'm just chopping it up to a Bios issue in how the drives are ordered or seen as ordered.
