Subject: x399 taichi not booting up
Date Posted: 06 Jan 2018 at 12:27am
i have bought a new x399 taichi mobo with 1950x. ram is gskill CL14 16 GB. first time i booted my mobo it booted up with success. while couple minutes of using it shut off itself and haven't been able to boot up since. When i turn my PSU on the blue lights on mobo turn on and RGB on my gskill ram light up but no activity in Dr Mos and no lights in power or reset buttons. when i press the power button the PSU gives a little click but nothing happens.I have tried everything possible. Tried different PSUs. tried removing and shuffling RAM sticks. unplugged fans, replaced SSD but no luck. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

" rel="nofollow - Different PSU not being able to power it up is generally a bad sign, although you didn't mention your CPU cooler and GPU.

Inspect the CPU socket for bent pins. Check mobo for traces of shorted out circuits or other damage.

Try booting with CPU, GPU and single stick of RAM; clear CMOS when you shuffle components.

If it won't boot then - RMA?

I have the EVGA Gold 850W and EVGA Gold 1000W. Both work fine when i use them on my z270 setup but not on x399. For the cooler I use enermax 360mm aio cooler. Tried different gpus gtx 1060 and rx 580 but no go

That can't be good.

did you check the CPU socket and mobo? Did you try clearing the CMOS?

Tried clearing the cmos 50 times. Took the battery in and out dozen times. No bent pins in the cpu socket.

" rel="nofollow - It could well be the CPU, what TIM did you use though? You could try if the bios got corrupted to do an emergency bios flash, this is independent of the CPU so it should still work.

" rel="nofollow - PC not powering on is bad. Typically motherboard issue (i can power on motherboards without CPU [obviously it wont do anything]). Without replacing every other part, its difficult to make a diagnosis. You've replaced PSU. Have you replaced ram? video card? cpu? motherboard?

Dude is right.

Rip all the stuff off, EVEN the CPU. Clear CMOS once again and try booting. You should see the error codes and beeps. If you do, start putting stuff back in and check how beeps are changing.

Did you try taking the mobo outside the case and see if it will boot then?

I got the same issue when I build my PC. The light on the motherboard is flash, but when pressing the power button, nothing actually happened, clear CMOS 5 times, it doesn't work. I had solved this problem by clear CMOS it did work. But now it stops working and the power button won't respond

I would go for RMA in both cases.
