" rel="nofollow - Ok I have written to ASROCK regarding this issue the last time a bios update for the Pro 4 came out and none for the AB350m. I didn't get the answer I was just looking for. They just pointed me to the bios download page. Really unhelpful

I just want to know why? Is it that it isn't necessary? Did they just forget about the AB350m? This is the second time I see an update for the Pro 4 and none for my board.

There could be any number of reasons why one board model gets an update and another does not. Most commonly however is because they use different power designs/controllers. If the update only changes the way power is handled then it would only apply to the board it was released for. I suspect this is the case here. The Pro4 uses a beefier power design. Other, common changes, will always see updates released across the platform.

I hope this helps.

Are you talking about the VRM's? I've read it's the same if it's that. I know the HDV one is inferior.

Your response is reassuring though. I don't particularly need any of the current updates but I AM interested in support for Zen+ processors and future ones. Or anything that improves overclocking.

Power design is 2 part, physical hardware and firmware Wink To differentiate between a cheaper and more expensive board there may be options on one that lack on the other, despite largely identical hardware for those functions. There is often also differing supporting hardware with lower or higher tolerances that mean settings need to be different between the 2. Power design differences is just one of many possible reasons that warrant an update on one but not another though.

I can say with confidence that if support for Zen+ comes to any current AM4 board (it very likely will) it will be implemented on all ASRock AM4 boards. This is one of the main reasons I started using ASRock, they don't try to force their users to buy new boards by claiming things aren't compatible when they are, beyond that they are also very good with support for their older products, even as far back as Socket 775 and old Athlon XP era boards.
