I'm curious to see if anyone else is having this issue with the Z370 Killer SLI/ac with either the original BIOS version or the newest one:
I built my computer a few days back from parts ordered from various retailers online. Upon completion I did a clean install of Windows 10 64 Bit (retail edition). Upon booting the computer it has been working great. All of my temperatures for the mainboard and CPU are very good and I've had no problem performing any standard task and gaming. However, ever since I first turned it on I've been having an issue where the UEFI will reset to its defaults upon every boot.
Anytime the computer is shut down and/or unplugged and then turned back on, the computer will start but the screen will not (the HDD light shows no activity either) and the computer will run for about 12 seconds before turning itself off. It will then turn itself on again where there will be no screen or HDD activity for about 8 seconds before the computer will POST and will present a screen that says that "UEFI defaults have been successfully loaded." At this time I can select F1 to continue (which will boot Windows without a problem and work great) or I can select DEL and go into the BIOS. From this point forward I can restart my computer and enter the BIOS and make changes any number of times and the computer will boot into Windows no problem. But as soon as I shut down the computer and/or disconnect the power, the same problem happens every time and resets my UEFI defaults each time. Of note, I originally made no changes to the BIOS at all upon my first couple of boots, so everything was always set to their defaults.
I have tried the following, with no success: 1. I updated my BIOS to the latest version (1.30) and ensured that all drivers were installed and updated, which has not remedied the problem. Have since reset the CMOS twice using the jumper cable (and restored it do the default position) and have removed the CMOS battery for 1 minute and restored it without success. 2. Disconnected all peripherals from all ports on the computer (including mouse and keyboard) and the problem continues to happen. 3. Tried unplugging all fans and internal components except the CPU water pump without success. 4. Tried moving my only RAM stick to multiple different slots from DDR4_A1 to DDR4_B1 with no success 5. Tried to configure the BIOS to disable legacy USB support without success. 6. Tried plugging the CPU water pump power plug into all of the other chassis fan plugins without success. 7. Removed all headers and double checked that they're plugged into the right spots, which they were the first time. 8. Tried changing BIOS fan settings for water pump from PWM to DC (from fan to Pump) but of course it resets to default every time I shut down. 9. Tried unplugging all internal components from the power supply and motherboard and plugged them back it. No success.
The only issue I can think of is my RAM, which is not on the Memory QVL list for the 16GB size, only for the 8GB and 4Gb. However, in all the builds I've ever done I've never selected ram from the QVL and have never had an issue. That being said, even if it wasn't compatible I don't understand why the UEFI being left on defaults would suddenly work after re-loading the exact same default values.
**Update** The same problem happens when the computer goes into sleep mode. Except that upon waking I'll login to Windows and then Windows will suddenly say "shutting down" and will reboot and I'll get the "UEFI defaults have been loaded" message.
