Subject: H170 - Use Onboard graphics (no dedicated gpu) ?

" rel="nofollow - Hello all,

I recently bought a H170 Pro4, but I have no dedicated graphics card as my only one died.
Now I've been trying to boot my system using iGPU. Sadly, all I get is a black screen (no special beeps, fan and leds are on just fine).

Googled about my scenario but all I found is that iGPU can be enabled or swapped via BIOS setting. As I said, I have no dedicated card anymore, so I can't access BIOS.

Is there any 'physical' trick I could try that would make my motherboard detect iGPU as my first and/or only choice, or something ?

Thanks

versuch mal das BIOS zu reseten (siehe Manual). dann sollte die iGPU verwendet werden.

Clear CMOS Wink

There is a jumper to clear CMOS on the motherboard, it should be detailed in your user manual. This will return your UEFI to factory defaults and should allow you to use the iGPU.

" rel="nofollow - Thank you, I'll try that

Also, another question: do asrock motherboards beep by default when POST is ok or it's complete silence from internal speaker when POST is ok?

It depends on if the post beep is enabled and if you have a speaker connected to the PC_Speaker header on the board. A single sharp beep will happen when post concludes if both are set up. A lot of people prefer to only hear beeps when something is wrong so it is often disabled by default. Any multiple beep indicates a problem and the pattern of the beep represents different POST issues.

Let us know how it goes Wink

So, at the moment, I can safely say that it beeps because removing all RAM modules will cause it to long-beep 3 times (which from what I've seen in FAQ means that mobo couldn't find any RAM modules installed)
Apart from that, I cleared my CMOS with the jumper thing (I followed my physical manual instructions for this task), but still can't seem to get any video output.

And yes, my dead card is not installed, so the HDMI is connected to the rear port next to USB ports.
Something weird about this config. I have a good PSU (Corsair CS 650 M) and it's only two years old.

I'm having a hard time trying to find what is going on with this almost brand new system (new parts: H170 Pro4 + i5 7400 + 2x Patriot 4GB DDR4 2400 MHz)

It shouldn't be any of the new parts, but trying any ram module will cause no beeps but also no output image. Fans run fine and leds turn on btw.

If you can, try connecting a monitor to the other video outputs on the board, sometimes HDMI can be problematic when using the iGPU. If you are not getting any error beeps then it is quite likely that the iGPU is working but HDMI is not detecting your display. I usually use the DVI port when testing as it is the most likely to not have compatibility issues. You can also try a different HDMI cable, there are different spec cables and some may not work with the HDMI out on your board.

Well, turns out either my monitor hdmi input died or cable is damaged somehow. I managed to get video on both igpu and my old 8800GT (didn't know i still had it lol) using DVI cable.

Thank you for the useful tips and information, it really helped
