I updated my Z370 Gaming K6 BIOS to version 1.40 a couple a days ago. Now I see that this version of the BIOS is no longer available for Z370 motherboards.

Can anyone explain that ?
Should I get worried ? Ermm

If everything is stable and you have no issues then no. Sometimes an update is pulled down because it is discovered that it has an issue with a particular hardware combination.

If this update contained the Meltdown exploit fix however then it was pulled down because intel discovered a problem with their fix and have advised users to hold off on applying the fix until they can release an updated version. If you have already applied it however and all is well then you don't need to worry about it. Just update to the newest version when it becomes available. I do not recommend back flashing to a previous version in this case, even if you have some issues. The Meltdown fix is addressed at a low level of the firmware and back flashing could be risky.

I know this info sounds scary but it really isn't, the issue with the meltdown fix is apparently random shut downs. The system can simply be powered back on and you can continue using it without issue till it happens again. I get the impression that it is not an overly frequent occurrence or it would have been noticed much sooner.

In short, I wouldn't worry about it Wink

I have 1.40 and 8700k, runs without issues. I'll wait for the next patch.

I also have no issues with 1.40 and Z370 Extreme4 and i7-8700k.
The update also fixed some issues on my system.

1. I have a game - Vikings - The wolves of Midgard and it refused to start from the first time when launched. It crashed with the error - "Fatal error in gc, GetThreadContext failed" and I had to start it multiple times in order to enter in to the game. After the BIOS update the game start from the first time. I tried a lot of things to fix the issue but the game still crashed before the BIOS update and the game wasn't updated since sep. 2017 so I believe that the CPU microcode fixed the issue here.

2. Adobe Premiere CS6 froze when I used Warp Stabilizer (and I had no problem to use Warp Stabilizer in my previous system with Q9550 and GTX 650Ti). Something like this -> https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1382778" rel="nofollow - https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1382778 I knew there is something wrong since the Warp Stabilizer was tested here with 8700k -> https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Premiere-Pro-CC-2017-1-2-CPU-Performance-Core-i7-8700K-i5-8600K-i3-8350K-1047/" rel="nofollow - https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Premiere-Pro-CC-2017-1-2-CPU-Performance-Core-i7-8700K-i5-8600K-i3-8350K-1047/
After the BIOS microcode update I am able to use Warp Stabilizer again.

Also I didn't notice any Kernel-WHEA errors in the EventViewer and do not experience random reboots. So far, so good so I will stay with 1.40 -> https://i.imgur.com/uGXhPmJ.png" rel="nofollow - https://i.imgur.com/uGXhPmJ.png :)
