" rel="nofollow - Hello everybody just registered on the forum today. Windows 10 FC user here. I have been using AB350 PRO4 since October in combination with a 1500X. After lot of testing and tweaking, decided to use A-tuning to OC my CPU rather than doing so in the BIOS since Ryzen balanced plan or the windows ones were not really decreasing Wattage consumption at idle or during low CPU load. with OC set in windows through A-tuning (3.8g at 1.2875V and Corsair LPX ram at 3,066Mhz and 1.375V), and Min processor usage set to 5% in advance power plan settings , Ryzen balanced plan actually works better to reduce wattage and the Windows power saver plan manage to decrease CPU+SOC power to 15-18W as read in HWINFO64 (SVI2 sensor) 1st question Do people here have overcome the same type of issue with OCing in the BIOS like I did or you dont bother? 2nd question is the new version of A-tuning listed on Asrock homepage not broken and will let me continue to manage my OC as above? thanks in advance Olivier

Sry. BIOS. I learned to decades ago. You should too. Learn BIOS OC'ing. Much more finer tuning from within the BIOS. |

bit harsh comment to a new comer here So let me explain again below comments in my original post suggesting that I DID a lot of OCing in the Bios before coming to that conclusion that it would be better from a Power consumption point of view to use A-tuning instead I have seen lot of people on forums having had issues with Windows and AMD Power plans so I was seeking for Asrock PRO4 users confirmation, thats all as per my OCing skills, lets say I am in my 40s and that is just the 4th or 5th rig I have built and OCed myself (CPU,RAM,GPU) so hoping I am well advanced with my learning curve..... Off my own topic, how did you get your 1500X to hit 4Ghz? with an AM cooler I guess?on water? i am with the stock spire and can push 3.9ghz at 1.35V stableish in Gaming but would not pass any stress testing or benchmark(AIDA64, Cinebench, OCCT) at that frequncy ------------- 3500X 4.4Ghz at 1.25V B550M Steel legend; 16GB CORSAIR LPX-3200 C16 running at 3333Mhz; 248GB NVME; VEGA 64 LC GPU OC 1700Mhz core 1150Mhz VRAM |

he got his 1500 to 4ghz cos hes a cheating moderator and got a cherry picked example  ^the above comment to be taken in cheeky humour please ^ as for your system wardog is right windows based tweaking isnt as ideal as the hype leads you to think have you tried the 'P' state overclocking method ? you can set stages of voltage depending on workloads i was able to get below 0.500 volt on idle on my 1700 non X but sorry i must say (excuse me its a habit of us old guys) but if as you say 3.9ghz at 1,35v 'stablish'. then the overclock isnt successful, it still needs tweaking, otherwise the dam things will let you down and corrupt data ,usually at the exact same time a windows update is re-writing something in the registry from updates or something i would advise less speed eg 3.8 or a bit more volts ------------- [url=https://valid.x86.fr/jpg250]  [/url]3800X, powercolor reddevil vega64, gskill tridentz3866, taichix370, evga750watt gold |

every X model is hand picked as it has to XFR to go for high numbers :P got 1600X here 4.1Ghz all cores 1.375v as for cooling...i doubt u get some high clocks on air at 4ghz it eats ~165watts under full use...air cooling topps out at 150watts i tihink? but even with those monsters temeprature isnt ~up to 50C as for vrm ...well ...my mobo (fatal1ty x370 gaming x) has some kinky flat vrm heatsink design...which was replaced be something more capable :)  |

at 3.8Ghz/1.2875V, CPU+SOC wattage reading in HWINFO64 (SVI2 sensor) gives me around 105W during AIDA64 test. CPU temps again from SVI2 sensor around 47-48degC at 3.9Ghz/1.35V, I have only checked in gaming session, since AIDA64 would crash very quickly, and Wattage go up to 130W and CPU temps in mid 50s I have a good Mid tower case for airflow(Aerocool P7 C1) with 3 front fans and 1 rear but yes I am all on air so the spire cooler certainly limit my OC I recognize that just didnt want to move to an AM cooler solution just yet since I am not completely sure to keep the and I am waiting to see how Ryzen 2nd generation develops ------------- 3500X 4.4Ghz at 1.25V B550M Steel legend; 16GB CORSAIR LPX-3200 C16 running at 3333Mhz; 248GB NVME; VEGA 64 LC GPU OC 1700Mhz core 1150Mhz VRAM |
