I'm kinda stumped at this point. When this computer works. It works great and the performance is everything I want. The problem is the random crashes and reboots. I run several VMs on the system at all times, mostly for work. That's why I build this computer was specifically to use with multiple VMs and still be able to play the few games I play. I've RMA'd this system board to ASROCK once, Swapped out the CPU with another one and tested all my memory modules in pairs of two making sure no errors would crop up. With two modules the system seems the most stable, but still randomly crashes. Anything beyond that on both processors is the same exact issue. Passes Memtest without any problems. Just random lockups in BIOS and random crashes with no obvious error in Event Viewer.

Thoughts or suggestions are welcome. I'm open to old druid incantations at this point.

" rel="nofollow - mike_schuler, no dumps? If yes, please compress the minidump folder and upload where we can access it. Only other comment is I am a true believer in horsepower. Can you borrow or beg, say 1000 Watt, power supply to test with? Good luck and enjoy, John.

I'll grab the Memory Dump next time it crashes. Looks like it already cleaned the one up from earlier today.

Ram is running at 2800. I just bought an extra set of the ram modules to test with to make sure it wasn't a bad set. Settings are: Freq: 1396.7Mhz FSB:DRAM: 4:42 CAS: 16 tRCD: 18 tRP: 18 tRAS: 38 tRC: 56 CF: 1T I'm not trying to OC nor am I interested in it. Just want it to be stable. Last crash was a hard crash and didn't BSOD so I don't have a memory dump. Always happens when the computer is idle.

mike_schuler, I had a similar problem on my X370 which required an RMA to correct two bad memory slots. Did not happen under load, usually idle, and never gave an BSOD. I narrowed it down by testing with two sticks at a time. Perhaps you could try four sticks at a time. Tough bug. Wish you the best. Enjoy, John.

Thanks MisterJ. It works fine for the most part if I take it down to two ram modules from the 8 ram modules I have now. This would be the second board I've RMA'd for the same problem. So either I got the same board back or the second board with the same issue. Either way it puts me out of a computer for a month while the issue gets resolved. I'll have to consider that again. :-(

mike try 4 sticks and set them down to 2133 just to check
8 sticks double sided at higher speeds is quite a task for the cpu's memory controller
