" rel="nofollow - Hello,

I just built a machine with a Threadripper 1950x, 32 GB G.Skill 3200 Mhz F4-3200C16Q-32GTZB, an Asus GTX 1080Ti turbo, 2 x Samsung EVO 256 GB M.2, a Corsair RM850i and a Enermax LiqTech TR4 360.

The pc won't boot and it stops on code 62. The manual says "Chipset initialization error. Clear CMOS or reset". It didn't work. I also tried to remove the battery. Boot with 1 stick of ram. Same problem. I know the graphic card works because it was on my old system.

Any idea?

Thanks

say 62 - Installation of the PCH Runtime Services.  Please post more of your specifications as in my signature.  Include your UEFI/BIOS and OS version and power supply.  Make sure you have the CPU 4-pin and 8-pin power connectors on the CPU and the PCIe power connectors on the video card.  Make sure the 4-pin connectors are not rotated 90 degrees.  Try booting with nothing but the CPU installed and post your code.  Open the UEFI and hit F9 then F10.  Try different PCIe slot for your Video card.  Enjoy, John.

Thanks for the answers! I changed slot to the graphic card and now it boots. I updated the bios to 2.00 but it only see 16 gb of ram. I have 4 sticks of F43200C16Q-32GTZB G.SKILL. I tried to switch the ram around, but it only see those in the slots A2 and B2.

Both the 4 pin and 8 pin connectors are connected.

" rel="nofollow - 1) Latest BIOS 2.00 flashed?
2) 4-Pin, 8-Pin, AND 24-Pin power supplied to the MB from the PSU?
3) Memory, see below for correct placement of 1, 2, and 4 sticks
4) Memory, these slots you must, MUST, make positive the stic(s) get seated, fully. Double check them.

Begin using 1, ONE, stick in A1 that it boots.
Work? Boot?
Place a second stick in C1(now A1+C1) that it boots
Work? Boot
Now place the other/last two into D1 and B1(now D1+C1+A1+B1) that it boots
Work? Boot?

Post back please

Hey Wardong, thanks for your answer. The manual says to use B2 A2 C2 D2. I'll try your configuration.

Nothing, it doesn't see the sticks in c1 d1 or c2 d2.

" rel="nofollow - alexmaz, you probably need to remove your CPU and make sure there are no bent pins or paste on pins.  Of course, you may have a board problem or bad sticks, but it seems awful extreme.

wardog, why do I want to refer users to a debug code list with about one tenth as many codes?

Enjoy, John.

Why link them to codes that most likely (w)(d)on't show on Dr Debug?

Plus, it keeps everyone on the same page.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sticks seems fine because they all work in the A nd B slots. Installing the CPU was a painfull process because of the screws 2 and 2 not taking. I'll try to redo it, but the pc works fine aside not seeing the ram, I installed Windows and it works fine.

You won't like this.

I know I know. That Kit is on ASRocks Memory QVL.

But, it isn't on G.Skills Compatabilty List for your board. No X399 boards from any manuf.
http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator?manu=52&chip=3073&model=3075

I've seen this happen before. It's kinda rare. It comes from early motherboard pre-release in-house BIOSes. BIOSes with rev's of like 0.27.

Have a friend with some mem on G.Skills link I presented above? To test?

No I don't know anyone with those rams. I can try to send them back to Amazon and get something else, but I can't rule out that the motherboard might be faulty. It doen't see the sticks in C and D even if they are the only one installed.

If I move again the graphic card to the first PCIe slot, the system doesn't boot. I don't know what to think.

did u check for any bent pins?

I'll check tomorrow, now it's 4 am here and I really need some sleep, I spent abut 10 hours on this Big smile

Is it possible to have some bent pins and still have the system working fine aside those 2 issues?

each pin has its own functions...its hard to say that
but since u dont have error post codes but instead system freezes during initialisation, then something isnt connected right

The system is stable, I'm posting from it. The only problems are:

- there is no way it sees the ram sticks in the C and D sockets. If I install only 1 or 2 sticks there, it's doesn't post. I don't remeber which codes gives in this case, I'll check again.

- the system won't post if the graphic card is in the first pci-e slot, I tried 2 cards. In this case the code is 62.

I'll remove the cooler and the cpu and check.

Pins seems fine to me, I don't know how much you can see from this picture https://imgur.com/a/tBHjX" rel="nofollow - https://imgur.com/a/tBHjX

If I only put the ram in the C and D slot, 1 or 2 sticks, I get the code C0

" rel="nofollow - If it's a ram compatibility problem, I will end up changing both ram and motherboard because there's no way I can find something else on the QVL here for a price that isn't crazy. The flare x on the qvl cost almost 600 ??on Amazon italia and it's impossible to know if you I'll get a ver 4.31 of the corsair ram

I installed the cpu again, same result. The system is stable but only see the ram in the A and B slots. The fisrt PCI-e slot still give the same problem. I'm inclined to RMA the motherboard.

" rel="nofollow - Don't rely on the QVL on ASRocks pages.

Instead, use the Memory Compatibility tools from the memory manufactures webpages.

Use the below tools to find Guaranteed compatible memory for your motherboard.

Thanks for the links. The problem is that I'm limited to what I can find on Amazon Italia, which basically is some G.Skill and some Corsair, if I want a 3200 kit. They have the G.Skill Flare X compatible with this board but at an absurd price or not available.

There is also the non working first PCI-E slot to consider. It doesn't work with the 2 GPU I tried, which makes me believe there's something wrong with the motherboard. I can get a substitution from Amazon for the motherboard and see how it goes.

" rel="nofollow - Contact Corsair and inquire what they have. I don't list the Corsair Toll because Corsair IMO has really REALLY dropped the ball concerning mem for Ryzen/ThreadRipper.

RyMem list a G.Skill and Corsair Kit that works:

I was able to boot with all 4 sticks in A and B slots. It's still dual channel but boots with 32 GB. It's at 2133 Mhz . I don't know what to do.

I'm calling this a mem compatibility issue, now, knowing that. I've seen that here a few times over the 40+ Kits I've gone through on varying boards.

Stability test it.

If it's stable, Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

ps: All newly introduced mem will Default to 2133 on your board.

Yes but I tried to set them at 3200 and it didn't boot. They are at 2933 now, didn't try 3200 again. I requested a motherboard replacement, I hope it's the motherboard.

If PCI-E slot 1 is not working with any graphics card then RMA the motherboard, simple!!!

Yup! I bought it on Amazon. I asked for a replacement Saturday evening and they started processing the order on Sunday and sent it sunday afternoon. It arrived this morning at 8.45. I was very suprised about this too.

Technically it's not a RMA but a replacements from the seller. ASRock support still hasn't answered to my friday evening ticket Big smile
