Hello everyone. I have not built a system in over 10 years so I might as well call this a new experience as things have changed so much in the entire industry. Anyways, I need to build a new system for my personal use that will mainly be used for 3d CAD, engineering programs, and the like. It will also be my personal computer that I hope to ply some games on so the components I have selected are somewhat high end but not top tier. Here is a list of the components that I am going to utilize and I would appreciate any feedback, especially if there is conflicts within the components, so that I may return them prior to opening the boxes so that I can get a full refund for them. Here goes: Case - Thermaltake Level 10 GT, White. PSU: Choice of 1 of the below, both fully modular. hiya sorry if i sound brisk but time is limited psu ,dont like either brand or models myself ,or would i recommend them (i would suggest evga gold 750w) x370 taichi ,i have one and i am extremely pleased with it (i also would be concerned about the mixed up serial numbers) 1800x.well its the best choice for maximum speed,i prefer the cheaper 1700 non x for its ability for lower volts at the same clockspeed though (mines run 3.9 ghz all cores for around 10 months) cooler i have the noctua am4 model but mine is the 120mm fan,its an excellent cooler ram choice ...DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THE CORSAIR! i cant stress that enough, the flarex is a good choice as would be tridentz 3200 cl14 (the cl14 is important its the b dies) nvme drive (the m.2.) yes the 960 evo is also recommended, i also have one myself ssd hard drive sata, thats all down to you my friend, it depends on your estimated need for speed or capacity (i only need a 500gb sata ssd and thus use a samsung evo 850) gpu .once again down to you but i would point out sli just dosnt seem to ever get the results one would hope, better off spending the budget on a better single card in my opinion monitor = your choice read some reviews blue ray = same answer your choice read reviews (i dont even use optical drives any more) O/S windows 10 pro 64 bit everytime, you will have a nightmare trying to get win7 running smooth hope that helps and dam it man you took too much of my time anyway  ------------- [url=https://valid.x86.fr/jpg250]  [/url]3800X, powercolor reddevil vega64, gskill tridentz3866, taichix370, evga750watt gold |

The PSU EVGA Gold 750 only has a 90% efficiency rating which limits the PSU output to 675 watts before it starts to go funky. Both the above listed PSU have a 92% efficiency rating. Further the output amps is 24A, 24A, 62A, .5A, 3A. The CORSAIR has a 92 EE and it is a Platinum edition and it provides 25A, 25A, 71A, .5A, 3A. It has an output of 791 watts before it start to go funky. I decided against the Cooler Master, although I have had an identical unit for more than 6 years and it is still going strong. Decided to bite the bullet an upgrade to the 1080TI. After reviewing the monitor specs again, I felt that the 1080TI was better suited to it than the 1070TI. Agree with the cooler choice. Based on the research that I have done, the NH-D15 outperforms even water cooling as well as all the other air coolers out there right now. The CORSAIR memory is out. So it is a toss up between the Flare X and the Ripjaws V, both have the Samsung B Die and are single rank single sided. The Flare X is only 2X8GB for $249 while the Ripjaws V are 2X8GB but at 3466 for a cost of $30 less. More speed for $30 less and I bet that if I lower the speed to 3200, I can tighten the timings to 14-14-14-34 if not less. Upgrading the NVMe to the 960 Pro On the SSD, the WD is $40 less for the same size drive The WD has a better max read and write than the EVO does although the Evo has the faster IOPS of 98K to 95K. Yes, the Evo has a 5 year vs the 3 year warranty for the WD. Considering the above, I decided on the WD. hey are both excellent drives though. Motherboard was sent back this evening. Newegg offers free returns but they use ground shipping on returns and that will take 5 to 7 days to get there. Give another 3 to 5 days before they send me the new motherboard, and I just lost 8 to 12 days. So I sent it back Priority Mail at a cost I hated to swallow but at least they will get it Monday. So hopefully I will have my new motherboard on Friday of next week vs having to wait for 2 weeks at which point, some of my other items for this build will be over 30 days old and are no longer subject to returns, only replacements. Thanks, I'll do that. When I spoke with Newegg last night about the part numbers not matching, everybody was shaking their heads. They had me send in pictures of the box label, the UPC, and the numbers on the motherboard. I am still waiting for them to call me back and fill me in on what the heck happened with this. nope shove the 960 in the uppermost m2 slot (its connections to the board electricly are nvme 32gb) the u2 is no use really its for mainly the intel cards and there much slower than the samsung nvme you sata drives connect the same as usual (use sata 1 and 2 ,or it may be labelled 0 and 1) lowest numbers anyway as these talk directly to the cpu i would still advise either flarex OR tridentz the results with the ripjaws seem inconsistant for stability and overclocking (allthough in theory the flare/ripjaws/trident should basically be the same parts and build with different firmware flashed to them for timings) ------------- [url=https://valid.x86.fr/jpg250] [/url]3800X, powercolor reddevil vega64, gskill tridentz3866, taichix370, evga750watt gold |

Got the replacement motherboard back. Brand new as far as I can tell and it has the part number on the box as 90-MXB500-A0UAYZ and again the part number on the motherboard as - you guessed it - 80-MXB500-A1A05 YN which is identical to the previous board except the serial number has changed to 7CM0XB101202 instead of 7BM0XB271719 so I do not know what is going on with this. Well at least I got a newer board 7C vs 7B. Anyways, I decided to rethink my system and have done some upgrades and changes. Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro TG SE PH-ES614PTG_SWT with the tempered glass side. Graphic Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1800Ti 11G Gaming X G5X Memory - Still a toss up between: G. Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3466 (F4-3466C16D-16GVK) 2X2X8GB for 32 GB or G. Skill FlareX DDR4-3200 (F4-3200C14D-16GFX) 2x2x8GB for 32 GB But I still can not find out if I can use all 4 DDR slots. All info at ASRock about the memory config for both of these modules is use slots A2 and B2. There is nothing indicating that I can use all 4 slots at the same time but there is nothing indicating that I can not use all 4 slots at the same time. SDD: CRUCIAL MX500 500GB SATA III 6Gb/s 3D NAND (CT500MX500SSD1) instead of the WD Blue WDS500G2B0A-00SM50 500GB SATA 3 6Gb/s 3D NAND. It dropped the Max Sequential Writes from 530Mbps to 510Mbps but increased the 4kb Random Writes to 90k IOPS instead of 84k IOPS. For the same price, I decided to trade that for the extra 3 years of warrantied service. Everything else pretty much remains the same except that I did decide to go to Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. I have had my fair share of problems with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. As an example, I lost my AHCI capabilities through an update from Microsoft and no matter what I do, I can not get it back, even after I did a Windows Repair. Loosing the ACHI meant that I am working at the Native IDE speed instead of the SATA3 speed that I should be working at. It is weird, because I can reload my OS from a backup I did when I first loaded Windows and my ACHI will work. But as soon as I revert to what is out there today for Windows 7, I get the dreaded BSOD every time I try to run in AHCI mode. So this is gong to take a new install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit so I am just going to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. The AHCI problem is one of the reasons I decided to upgrade my hardware (it is also 10 years old - still using a Phenom II processor) and like was mentioned, everybody is eventually going to have to go to Windows 10 or dump the OS for something else. Still no replies to my other thread about the memory questions.
