" rel="nofollow - Does anyone know for sure how the fan speed is controlled on the headers for the case fans?  Is it true PWM on pin 4 of the header, or is the speed of the fans controlled by voltage changes across pin 4?

As for CHA_FAN2 (bottom of the board, under the PCIE5 slot), it works as PWM or Voltage mode.  I currently have a Noctua NF-A14PWM connected and am controlling it's speed using SpeedFan.
I did have a 120mm 3-pin fan from my old Gigabyte case connected and that worked too, with variable speed control.

As for the other headers, I am not sure/haven't tested.

*edit*
It looks like you are asking a more technical question, I don't know my away around testing the connections enough to answer that.  Sorry.
