" rel="nofollow - I have the Z270 Pro4 motherboard and it crashes with X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion sound card installed.
I'm using that sound card because it provides easy connectivity for my headphones for gaming etc.

On windows 7 I have the latest mobo drivers and bios installed.
I have the latest creative driver installed for the sound card.
The onboard audio hardware for the mobo is disabled in bios.
Any idea whats causing this problem?

Thanks
Geoff

" rel="nofollow - When it crashes do you get a blue screen ? write down the error code if it does and report back.

" rel="nofollow - Hi bradbri, thanks fro you reply.
No it doesn't crash to blue screen, it crashes to black screen and there is no text.
And the GPU fans go to full speed.
I have to hold the reset button for 5sec to get it to reboot and it asks me do I want to start windows normally? which I do and its fine and then crashes again after about 5 - 15 - 20 minutes.

I already changed out the RAM and the video card to different and it still did the same thing.

After Googling a bunch found a few who fixed it by going to Device Manager and Uninstall the driver but DO NOT check the delete files. Reboot and let Windows find the driver and re-install it.
Try it and see if it helps. Others complain that Alt-TAB to desktop from a game will cause it no matter what.

Thanks badbri.
Will give it a try and see what happens.

Hi badbri,
I did as you suggested above of uninstalling the driver (not delete files) but windows does not find the driver files when it detects the hardware on reboot.
It seems the Creative driver install app needs to run in order for the driver to be installed.
I downloaded a previous driver only installer (not including the creative apps), but the problem persists.
The computer will run for a short time then suddenly crashes.
Without the sound card it runs fine.

So I've decided to do away with the sound card and just use the on-board audio and get the front panel hooked up properly, which is what I should have done in the first place.

Thanks for your suggestions on this.

Best Regards
Geoff
