When I boot from the onboard video, things work great, but when I installed an MSI GTX 1070 (Armor 8G OC), I cannot get video out of the MSI card. At boot, I sometimes get 4 short beeps and a final long beep. Or maybe it is just 5 short beeps...that last one does seem longer than the previous 4.

I have tried setting the BIOS to PCI Express as the default. I have tried enabling and disabling the onboard video.

I pulled the video card from a working system and am trying to install it in the new z370 Extreme4 system I built for my son...so I am fairly certain the video card is good.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

" rel="nofollow - hello, you don't forget to connect the gtx 1070 card to the screen I hope and if yes, is it dvi hdmi or display port you are using between msi and monitor ? (google translate excuse me for the poor english!)

Try, after setting PCI as default, to plug the graphic card to the monitor after shutting down the PC completely. That happens to me and I spend about an hour until solve it. I hope that help.
