Hi, I'm having problem with "sleep" function on this board on Windows 10. While I am able to put the computer into sleep but the system won't wake from it. The screen just remains blank although the harddisks and power LED are on. All the drivers are latest from asrock website or intel. Problem with BIOS?  I'm not sure if anyone is having the same problem.

Thanks~

Wake from Sleep issues can be caused by the video source not responding (waking up) in the time expected by Windows. If you check the Windows Event Log you might find warnings about that situation.

Since you are not getting any video to the monitor, it sounds like that is your issue.

What video source are you using? A video card or the Intel integrated graphics? What type of connection to your monitor are you using?

This can also be caused by the power supply being "slow" to return to its full power state. What PSU are you using?

Thanks for your reply.

I am using the intel integrated graphics with DVI output. PSU is cooler master v550s. I have been using this power supply for a year without similar problem on my previous board.

The problem is strange since the fan and hdd seems to come out from sleep mode, but keyboard and mouse don't. I use an optical mouse so I know it's not powered on.

i have also looked into windows event log and found nothing related to the failed waking from sleep mode.

I have also suspect the issue might be related to display. But I'm already on the lastest version of driver I can get so i think i can do nothing on this.

Greetings, this is ASRock Technical Supports Department.

We tested H170M Pro4 with BIOS P1.30, using i5-6600 on Windows 10 64 bits in our lab.
After installed VGA driver from our website, the system can resume from S3 state properly.

We provide some suggestions for try:
1. Please flash the BIOS to P1.30 as the link: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H170M%20Pro4/?cat=Download&os=BIOS
2. Please reinstall the Windows and only install VGA drivers for try .
3. If possible, please use another CPU to verify.

Kindest Regards,
ASRock TSD

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have tried to reinstall windows with only VGA driver installed but still fail. I'm using a i5-6500 and i really can't have another CPU to try. It doesn't affect everyday use very much but it's just annoying. I do wanna put the computer into sleep mode instead of turning it off completely so that I don't have to close all my works and open them again.

Dear customer,
Thank you for the feedback.

We provide some suggestions to try:
1. If possible, please use another memory to verify.
2. If the problem still, please contact the local dealer where you bought the board for hardware further check.
If needed, please apply the RMA process.

Thank you for your patience.
If any, please feel free to contact us!

Kindest Regards,
ASRock TSD

I updated the BIOS to 1.50 and the problem is miraculously gone.
Thank you very much.

I have the same problem with my H170M Pro4, but I have already updated the BIOS to 1.50.

CPU: i5 6600
RAM: Kingston 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR4 HyperX Fury Black C14 2133MHz (model HX421C14FBK2/16)
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB (model SV300S37A/240G)
DVD: Lite-On iHAS124 24x SATA
PSU: FSP Raider Edition 550W 80PLUS Silver

OS: Windows 7 x64 and Windows 10 x64 both show the same problem.

Video: Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 (from CPU)
Video driver: v15.40.7.4279 (10.18.15.4279)

When it gets stuck resuming from hybrid sleep, I found that if I hold in the power button for 10 seconds (to fully power off) and then press the power button again, it resumes properly, including the message from Windows saying that it is resuming.

I found that if I disable Hybrid Sleep in the Power options then the Start > Shutdown options include Hibernate in addition to Sleep, but Sleep is now "suspend to RAM" instead of hybrid.

If I now select Sleep the same problem exists.
If I instead select Hibernate it resumes properly when the power button is pressed.

It looks like another BIOS update is required. I have just submitted a support request.

The video driver v15.40.7.4279 (10.18.15.4279) is from the Intel website, so I just tried reverting to v15.40.5.1.4274 (10.18.15.4274) which is on the ASRock website for this motherboard model, and it has the same problem in Windows 7 x64.

ASRock TSD responded to my support request and asked me to try video driver v15.40.10.4300 (20.19.15.4300), reseating the RAM and CPU, and trying the RAM in different slots. None of this helped.

I tried using a different power supply, keyboard and mouse, and changing from a VGA cable to a HDMI cable. None of this helped.

Since the post from ASRock TSD above says that BIOS P1.30 works with an i5-6600, and I have the same CPU, I tried downgrading from P1.50 to P1.30. THIS WORKED!!! YAY!!

This confirms for me that it is a BIOS fault. I'm going to provide these results to ASRock TSD and ask for the BIOS engineers to look into this.

On a side note, Wake On LAN does not work with Windows 10 x64 and BIOS P1.30. When the computer turns off the link light goes off and it does not respond to a magic packet. However it works with Windows 7 x64. I'm using NIC driver 12.13.17.4.
