" rel="nofollow - When I turn on the PC after it has been turned off for a few hours, sometimes I receive the following message:
"BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot."

The bios has the default settings (BIOS versions tested 1.70 - 2.00)

-I tried with a clean reinstall of windows
-I tried to make a clear cmos
-I removed all the usb devices
-I tested the ram with memtest (0 errors)
-I tried to replace the following components: RAM - SSD - PSU
-I contacted amd and they told me that the problem is probably caused by the motherboard/BIOS and that it can not depend on the CPU
-I also tried to contact Microsoft, they made me do some tests and told me that it should be a BIOS / Driver problem

do I have to change any settings in the bios? or is it a bios bug?

Configuration:
  • Fatal1ty X399
  • 64 GB ram 4 x 16 hyperx (HX430C15PB3K4/64)
  • cpu amd 1950x
  • two ssd and one hdd

Already tried. I changed the cable and moved the connection from sata port 2 to sata port 1

No No No

That's a Windows specific error.

Not the MB, chipset, nor BIOS is responsible.

Windows choked from an OC, Windows choked on whatever.

I haven't made any OC. the error is not always shown but it is random.
At startup, immediately after the motherboard logo, a black screen with a blinking "_" appears. sometimes it takes more time to move forward and sometimes after a few seconds it shows the error message.

if it freezes on boot loader, then u might have some damage on your drive
otherwise u will get insta boot errors

I replaced the SSD with a new one but I still have the same problem

" rel="nofollow - When you replaced your SSD with the new SSD, did you perform a new installation of Windows?  Or did you clone the contents of the old SSD to the new SSD?  If the latter, you brought over any corrupted data the old SSD had on it.

I've done a new installation, I think it depends on the bios, probably it sometimes does not correctly set the ram or other voltages settings at startup, or it has some problem with the ram I have chosen (even if they are present in the compatibility list).

I suspect a driver issue since you ruled out a ram issue with memtest.

If so, it depends on the drivers of some components of the motherboard or the processor drivers. the other components were installed on another pc that did not have this problem.

I believe that this motherboard has compatibility problems with the ram HX430C15PB3K4/64 ....
Sometimes the following message appears when the PC is turned on: "BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot." and very rarely the pc freezes during windows loading.
I tested the ram with memtest and tried a second identical kit.

Set the memory to default 2133 speeds (no OC, no XMP) and load default settings then report back.

I always have the same problem, change the setting only changes the frequency with which it occurs

I have updated the bios to 3.10 (default settings) now windows randomly freeze....never happened before...

problems with 2.00:
Random "BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot." on startup
Random freeze during windows loading
The most stable configuration is setting the ram to 2400 1.35v and increase soc voltage to 1.1 (reducing the problem from 2/3 times a week to 2/3 times a month)
with my configuration there are problems in the voltage management that causes these problems

I tried different settings but the 3.10 bios problem persists.
Returning to bios 2.00 the problem disappear but the  2.00 bios problems listed above remain.

update:
I have updated the bios to 3.30 (default settings) windows randomly freeze....
I have been forced to go back to version 2.00, it has random problems at startup, but at least I can use the PC

I'm starting to think that asrock is not interested in solving these bios problems...

problems with 2.00:
Random "BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot." on startup (frequency varies according to the ram configuration)

Random freeze during windows loading (very rarely)

ram kit used: HX430C15PB3K4/64

Yes Max, they are not... Sad but true. I had to dump my otherwise perfect Taichi due to the same reason - no proper UEFI support. After I dumped it, I never looked back. Never again ASRock in my builds.
